My wife and I treated ourselves to Kamimura for her birthday. The entire experience was superb, from the moment Jack greeted us at the entrance and guided us to our table, chatting charmingly. Wiggy served us, with the right balance of engagement and stay-back. Her description of the complex combinations of ingredients were superb. We went for the wine pairings with the set course, and the sommelier was really great. She had picked very interesting wines, some Japanese ones (watch out for J-wines, they will be great in 10 years). We loved it. The entire restaurant joined my jovially when I burst out into song (happy birthday), as Wiggy set down desert, with a sparkling candle set into the ice cream. Kamimura himself came to say hello at the end, he was charming and deservingly proud of his “product”, including his team that delivers the service. Great night

We came a year ago & were appeased with services & quality of food. This time round, it’s less impressive perhaps both quality & fancy factor ebbing. We enjoyed lunch better for better value, less so for dinner. Seafood here generally better than meat dishes.

Interesting menu not quite executed. Appetisers were generally well received (apart from a not clearly described cod millet tempura) as were friends' pork belly mains. Duck breasts came out cold, twice, but would probably have been nice if hot. Creme brulee satisfyingly thick and creamy but the cinnamon and star anise infusion not quite fitting. Nice ambience, beatiful presentation, friendly service (cold ducks were rightly refunded). However, at those prices the chef needs to nail the substance as well as the form.Dear TravelRoge & SnowDBThank you for taking the time to pass on your thoughts, we value feedback and are always striving to improve our service where possible. I am glad that you enjoyed the pork, oysters and Maguro. I am very sorry that two duck dishes were not up to scratch. We hate delivering sub-standard dishes, it is a very rare occurrence and we always strive to remedy mistakes and to ensure they are not repeated. We wouldn't dream of charging our guests for disappointing food.As far as price goes we only offer the finest locally sourced produce. This promise extends to our meat, vegetables and seafood as well as many of our sakes, Shochus and liqueurs. Our specials change daily, reflecting the fantastic ingredients for which Hokkaido is famous. Our menu is not cheap but we feel we are competitively priced in Niseko for the quality of what we have on offer. Once again thank you for your comments, we hope to see you again.
