We stopped for lunch in this Curry house. 2 big advantages for lunch - no smoking and the lunch special. The lunch special is your choice of curry, small salad, rice, dessert, and tea for 980-1200JPY (depending on your selection of curry).The eggplant curry was tasty, though not a traditional curry. More of a Marsala sauce - but the sauce was good and the eggplant was cooked well. My wife's chicken curry was the same sauce but the chicken was a little fatty if you do not like that type of chicken. The dessert was a scoop of sweetened ricotta on top of a mild yogurt with banana pieces. Finished with hot milk tea.They have bottled Thai and Malayasia beers plus Japanese beer on tap. And the mood of the room was very relaxed. The decor reminded me of a hiker's hut, lots of pillows and warm feelings. The relaxed music in the background was a great touch also.

This cafe does tea, coffee and a small range of toast, cakes and desserts in an old building with lots of atmosphere. There were small vases of fresh garden flowers on the tables which added to the charm of the place. I had the cheesecake and a black coffee, both of them excellent. Service was very good.

Our family of seven spent three nights at Ryokan Kurashiki, experienced four of the five rooms (I would call them suites as each had a bedroom and at least one if not two living rooms). All four suites had both atmosphere and comfort. Excellent beds. Even though the bathrooms did not have private outside baths, the tubs were deep and large. Ritsuko Nakamura, the charming okami (owner), is welcoming and made sure that our wishes were well taken care of. For example, we wanted to bike the Shimanami Kaido so she researched bike rentals, train and taxi options and made the whole experience easy. Her entire staff is attentive and on top of every detail. The location of the ryokan, in the center of the historic district could not be any better. The kaiseki tasting menus were delicious and interesting. We highly recommend this ryokan.

YUURIN-AN is a cafe located in the heart of Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter. The building is a over 100-year-old Japanese style wooden house.

I had to wait in line to buy a "happy pudding" but it was worth the wait. The staff in the cafe are very kind. The cafe is a traditional style building. They have many other sweets and treats on their menu. If you need a place to stay, this cafe becomes a guest house in the evening.

This cafe is quite famous in the historical area. We had branch there. We ordered Miyake curry and cake set. The curry was really tasty with lots of vegetables and not so spicy. The desert were also good. We stayed long cox this cafe made me relax.
