Great food, great service, great atmosphere. Best steak in nanjing. Iâve been there 6 times now since it has opened and I have had excellent meals every time. I highly recommend the filet mignon but the aged beef is also mouth watering. Donât forget to the the vegetable soup.

We were looking for a place to have dinner Saturday afternoon, after spending the day in Nanjing, and wanted Mexican food if possible. Restaurant app listed Axis we found a map and walked the mile over, on a humid, hot Saturday afternoon.......!We get to the restaurant, located tucked in the side of the building, along the river bank, and we both wanted inside in the AC. We get in and the AC is off......What the hell??? When we asked, we were told the guy responsible for the AC wasn't in to turn it on, so it was off.....What???!!! 33C+ humidity out, and no AC??? I know it's China, and I've seen the no AC thing before, but guys, it's summer time!!!We pulled up the app and decided we needed to find a new restaurant, one with AC, but could find nothing nearby. Reluctantly we stayed, and ate on the tables outside on the patio. We had cold drinks, tacos and chicken burritos. Food was good, service good and pricing was acceptable. I've had better Mexican food, but the food was acceptable.If I was in the area again, I would eat there again, but I don't think i'd go out of my way. Honestly, the whole AC thing out me off from the place.We are truly sorry about the unfortunate incident with the a/c. Your experience was at the HeXi restaurant which is now closed. We thank you very much for supporting us with your honest feedback so we can enhance your dining experience next time.Please try our flagship shop in XianLin University Area. We are sure you will love it AND be cool and comfortable!

The service was good, the food was delicious, and the burgers were huge!Great place to go for awesome burgers and delicious chocolate cake. Seriously, the burgers are huuuuuuge!They're not cheap, on average 100 yuan per burger, but they do some good 2 for 1 meal deals.This was a great place to go when we wanted some delicious western food.

Secco is fast becoming one of my favourite bars in Nanjing. If it weren't so far away from the regular foreigner haunts (Shanghai Road and 1912), it would almost certainly be Nanjing's most popular expat bar.Why?1). Good strong drinks at good prices: No dodgy fake alcohol and prices that are very reasonable. Beers and cocktails alike are good quality.2). The food is fantastic: The owner (Marcus) cooks everything himself and it's all good. I've had mouth-watering steaks and great salads, but my personal favourite is the kebab sandwich. Heavenly.3). Great space: With two pool tables, a dance floor, bar, restaurant, and stage - it's got something to cover pretty much everybody's tastes. They regularly host theme parties and events to keep things interesting.4). Entertainment: In addition to the aforementioned theme parties, they also have live music and house DJs in who keep things interesting.

I've been to Paulaner here in Nanjing a few times with friends, and while I've always had a decent enough time, I find the entire place to feel entirely too much like a 'tourist trap' aimed at luring in local Chinese people wanting to feel like they're getting an authentic western experience.The food is of decent quality, but pricey for what it is. The alcohol is similarly over-priced, and it's not exactly world class beer you're throwing back.Their live music is generally of a fantastic standard, but the atmosphere of the place is diminished by the large groups of obscenely drunk local businessmen who frequent the establishment. The fact there are signs posted informing guests where to vomit, and that there are regularly people passing out, falling over, or shouting at one another is an indication of the calibre of guest the place attracts.Give it a miss.

The lobster dish was tasty, but awfully hard to eat: big claws and no tool to get to the meat; you had to grab it with your hands and break it with your teeth! The Vietnamese rolls were great, just needed a pinch of salt; the mango salad was divine. Beware, the service can get confused. Make sure they write your order, otherwise the food doesn't arrive . Gilly's is an American-style Bar & Grille, owned and operated by an American family; and the kind American hospitable attitude immediately shows. Whether you are in Nanjing for a night, or a month on business, they will take you in, treat you to amazing food and drinks, & welcome you in, making sure you feel at home & put a smile on your face. They have loads of activities that range from Darts, board games, pub quiz, 'Mexican Monday' , and the place always has some friendly foreign faces in it to keep the mood great.The beers are reasonably priced, and they always have a cheaper light beer on tap for when you are trying to "ball on a budget". Also have all sorts of fun and unique shots (the Irish Car-bombs there are the stuff of legend)And last but not least, the food. With decades of cooking experience, you will find the owner Tom outside the restaurant there at least once a week with his smoker; smoking up all sorts of delectable meats including Chicken, Steak, Pork, and Salmon (the smoked salmon is a MUST-TRY). If you are looking for a fun and delicious place that reminds you of home, Gilly's is by FAR and away the best place to go in Nanjing.

Went back to Blue Frog with a friend to see if the last visit was an aberration. It was not. This time was even worse. Again, downstairs is still smoking, which I don't get. So, we ate upstairs. My friend ordered The Blue Frog Chicken Caesar salad and a burger. I ordered the seared tuna salad. 1. Way too few workers in the kitchen, which meant slow, slow,, slow service. The table across from us ordered enough food for a village (their right), but that meant no one else was served with any expediency. 2. The Chicken Caesar Salad should have been called, "Try and Find Chicken in the Salad" according to Z and he was right. The portion was small compared to other Blue Frogs and it just wasn't very good.3. My salad was 1/2 and hour before it arrived and it looked nothing like the photo. Small pieces of ground black pepper tuna cooked too much and a basic layer of salad greens. It wasn't worth the wait or price.4. It took almost an hour for Z to get his hamburger. The bun was stale and the burger that was supposed to be cooked medium-well was medium rare and soggy.The only reason I give this Blue Frog a star is that it has food. Someone, somewhere in QA/QC needs to get out to Blue Frogs and make sure they meet corporate standards for food and service. As for this Blue Frog - I won't go back.

I had help to use the mei tuan restaurant app to get the 65 RMB deal (burger, fries, and hot cocoa). With the special deal it is not too expensive for a special treat but otherwise very pricey. I will say that the quality is excellent even by American standards. In China finding a good burger is not easy and it was a taste of home. Go here if they offer a special deal (you will need a Chinese speaking friend for help) and you have a craving for a good burger. The burger is very juicy, they don't give enough fries though. The hot cocoa was tasty and juice is 100% natural (something rare in China).

In China there are a lot of Irish bars not fit to serve a Guinness, but this is the one that breaks the mould. Finnegan's is a small corner of home, neatly tucked away in the corner of Nanjing.This was my third visit to Finnegan's, which should say all it needs about the pub. The pints are fresh and the staff are always on the ball. Ian, the owner, in particular is always on top form. He makes you feel at home and dishes out the same kind of chat you would get behind the bar back home. On top of this, if you're a whisky drinker, you'll find plenty of rarities in the malt room to try out. On top of the great atmosphere and fresh pint, the food is outstanding. Even for good bar standards back home, the kitchen really do well in creating some well loved, homemade favourites in the Orient. I've tried the steak pie, mince and tatties, and roast chicken - I can fault none of them.All in all, if you ever feel homesick or in need of a good pint, head to Finnegan's. It's the main reason I keep going back to Nanjing.
