Curry Leaf

The Curry Leaf is a well established restaurant that has been in Pukekohe for many years. We ate here again on Saturday night. Staff were polite and friendly and explained various dishes on the menu. Samosa for entrée was big and the Rogan Josh was just brilliant, with the beef melting in the mouth and the rice cooked to perfection. Possibly on the hotter side of medium as far as curries go, but not off putting. Good selection of wines and beers. If you in joy Indian food the Curry Leaf is well worth trying.

We decided to pop in here for lunch on the way home from the beach.Being Fathers Day it was quite busy.We have dined here several times and the food is fantastic. However, I have had to rate it lower this time as our waiter looked as if he had sucked a lemon. He was very polite and courteous but just looked like he didn’t want to be there. The two other let downs were, one, there were two of us and only one glass was brought with the water and it wasn’t clean. Two, the table cloth on the one side looked as if someone had used it as a napkin.Otherwise, we didn’t have long to wait for the meal, we were offered the lunch special and the food was well presented and again fantastic flavours.

So we went there as the TripAdvisor reviews were good. Maybe they changed chefs, but the service was also lacking. I called to book, left a voicemail, but received no confirmation. Ever hopeful we went anyway. We were seated and noticed a hideous damp smell, caused by an old leak above our table. Service was slow and dishes piled up at tables around us. When the food came we were very disappointed. I know that Thai uses lots of sugar, but come on, the satay treated like it had been marinated and coated in sugar- the theme continued, everything was sickly sweet. There was shouting from the kitchen, which I always hate. I hope, it is a dip, and they pick up their game, as I hate to see small businesses fail. Please owners, just take more care.
