After some research, only interested in 3 traditional food in Probolinggo - Soto ayam, bakso & Rawong. After visiting the Vihara Sumber Naga, look for the high ranking soto ayam, on the way to red church. This the only soto ayam I have during my whole trip, so can't compare to others. I consider this soto ayam are very good, coz I can eat till leave nothing inside my bowl.

This is one of the best Indonesian restaurants! I brought guests from Malaysia twice here. First, we ordered Shiva Package (Set Menu). Second, ala carte (Capcay Seafood, Tahu and Tempe Crispy, Arabica Coffee, Es Teller, and Sate Ayam). Me? Rawon is my favourite! Super recommended! Perfect for lunch especially after or before Ijen Trip.

We ordered the salted egg chicken and the black bean noodles. They were both tasty and quite different but the portions were so small! The size of a starter! The price was around 16k which I thought was reasonable. I would reccomend this place but get 3/4 dishes between two if you're hungry or some starters! I also had a melon juice which was yummy and was 9k.

Stayed in Probolinggo for one night, ready to visit Mt. Bromo the next morning and needed a vegan option for dinner... this place is it! Delicious selection of plant-based food, with a clear section marked out for vegetarians. A lot of dishes are based on peanut sauce!! Most dishes are vegan I think, but some have egg so ask them to not include it. Itâs easy to order, by putting your selection on a slip and the waiter collects it.It seems like this is a favourite of the locals, as it was a big restaurant and looked decent. They also had some good desserts on offer. Cost isnât like street food but fair price. Canât go wrong.

There are actually two locations, one on the main road (Surabaya-Banyuwangi) - address is as listed, and the other one (original location) is near Probolinggo town square. Facilities were nice - main dining hall, gazebos, prayer room, toilets, etc. All looked neat and tidy. Service was prompt, but have to seek for the waiter if you sit outside at the gazebo. Fried ducks were nice, nice combination with the hot and spicy sambal (sauce). Go easy on the sambal at first until you find your desired level. A dash of sweet soya sauce also helps.

I visit this restaurant because I'm curious about why people are raving about this restaurant. Finding its place can be confusing. Although Google Map directing me to certain spot near main road, it turned out that the restaurant's entrance is actually is in the harbor. I was totally surprised by layers of ticket booth that I must pass through, as it is located inside harbor entrance. And although the restaurant is near the entrance, we are directed to go deeper into the harbor complex before taking u-turn to head into the restaurant. It turned out that the restaurant is actually located inside a mangrove-themed theme park, where the entrance road is not paved nor tarred. The restaurant is located well away from car park where you have to walk along wooden pathway on the mangrove park. It is actually scenic and enjoyable place to spend your relaxing afternoon. Upon being seated in the restaurant, I ordered some food there. I was quite fascinated by the fact that crayfish are sold at moderate price in here, and they even come with free drinks too. Well, I shouldn't have mentioned it as plural: although the servant promised that there will be two drinks, it turned out only one served.The food is nice and enjoyable, although the taste is left more to be desired. Is it worth to visit the place? Had I came purely to enjoy the theme park, I would have give higher rating. But since the food quality is not so good, I have to give what I think about the experience. Maybe next time I should ordered different menu?

This place can be easily found during the trip to Probolinggo (from Pasuruan) or from Probolinggo to Pasuruan. It's simple just in in the side of the main street. Having good price and good quality of meat ball, it's taste yummy and tender. But the room/place sometime kinda crowded and, well, feeling hot so just maybe the owner need to add Air Conditioner as recently the hot weather in Indonesia become so intolerable

Came across Warung Kencur on my way back to Surabaya. Its was right at 12 noon lunch time and pretty full of hungry lunch goers. Place is pretty cozy and typical Javanese setting. Vary large menu to choose from and some really good sambel (chili sauce). Order the Penyet Ala Kencur. Its a hefty portion and enough for 2 people in my opinion. I opted to switch out the fish for some fried chicken. Also comes complete with fried tempe, fried tofu, terong (eggplant) and some traditional lalapan (raw veggies) to dip along with the sambel. All in all I would highly recommend Warung Kencur for those who are passing through the area and wanna grab a quick bite to eat and take a brief rest from the stressful road conditions of dodging trucks and busses who tend to come head on with us at times Pricing is pretty standard... 2 entrees and 2 drinks was only Rp.63,000
