Waited 2 hours and wasn’t particularly impressed by the unagi, honestly. I ordered the medium sized (as shown in picture) and it tasted just alright.

We reserved a lunch spot knowing that we'd spend the morning at Arashiyama. The restaurant was not hard to find, especially if you follow along the river bank. The quaint little rooms offer spectacular view of the Katsura river and surrounding vegetation, the staff speaks good English, and the food was spectacular. Seasonal ingredients were expertly prepared and presented, with the highlights of course being tofu. I would love to come back in the fall to see the leaves, and perhaps try their dinner menu.

We were dying to try shojin ryori while in Japan, and this was a convenient spot for us to do so. We were blown away with the quality, presentation, and how full we were (my super carnivorous husband even loved every bite and was too full to finish). The meal exposed us to so many new tastes and textures, and the setting was lovely and serene. We got the 5500 yen option, which was more than enough food - though I'm curious what would have been missing or gained if we'd ordered either of the less or more expensive options! We did reserve weeks in advance online with no issue, and this is not only one of the meal but one of the experiences of our trip we can't stop talking about! HIGHLY recommended!

I stumbled upon this restaurant while walking around near the bamboo forest. From outside it looks very nice but quiet. Usually i prefer to go to crowded restaurants, but somehow this time I went in. Im glad I did. Their specialty is wagyu and the famous kyoto tofu. I tried both and oh my god.... THE WAGYU WAS AMAZING! Very soft, juicy, and generously sliced (even the 80gr one), and the tofu was sooo soft and nice. Overall i really recommend it. The interior is also very nice and is actually more crowded than it seems :)Thank you for choosing "kijurou"We're very glad to recieve some comments of high evaluation.We're waiting for your second visit with our hospitality when you come to Arashiyama again.

Had the most amazing sushi here and the chef is so sweet, takes pride in his food. He is always looking to see if we enjoyed the food and has a beaming smile when he sees enjoy the food. Sushi will never taste the same!
