Rustic Lodge in incredible setting
Reviewed By KolobezkoThis was first camp we stayed in during our 10 days itinerary in Botswana. Upon arrival, the lodge is very welcoming and homey. Lounge area filled with comfy couches, poofs, lovely fire pit, everything is positioned to overlook water lagoon filled with hippos. We had tent/cabin number 1. Very rustic, but comfortable. Beware of spiders! Even though there is protective netting over bed, every night we had huge, huge spiders in the bed itself, so we learned to shake the blankets and sheets before we went to sleep. Food was good, but very simple, they ask you if you have any special dietary needs and they will adjust the meal, but there are no choices which at the price tag was surprising. Our game drives were good, we also tried mokoro ride and boat safari and they were all good experiences. One big disappointment was pool. It was out of service and while they built new plunge pool area- it's not in the camp. Your guide has to drive you there and then sit in the car while you are lounging, which was very uncomfortable as we knew we were cutting into his free time. Also, as this is not at the camp, there was nothing there as to drinks/water etc, I think little ice chest with beer, wine and soft drinks would be very useful. Overall, camp is in fantastic setting, game drives were great, I hope they resolve the pool situation soon,

Hyena Pan is a tranquil tented camp in private concession area NG18 better known as Khwai. The concession area borders the Moremi National Park and the Khwai River in the South and the Chobe National Park to the East. The camp is positioned 12kms north of the Khwai river, within Cathedral Mopane forrest overlooking a natural Mopane Pan. The pan is a constant water supply to many species.

Reviewed By alan2303We stayed for three nights and had a wonderful time. Our guide Naku, excuse the spelling, collected us from the airstrip and was with us throughout our stay. We enjoyed a late afternoon game drive on our way to the camp including our first sundowners before reaching the camp as darkness was falling. Our tented accommodation was on a raised platform overlooking the water and was comfortable and clean. The staff sang a lovely welcome song and we were given a brief orientation talk. Everyone was very friendly and the service levels were very good. Lots of staff training was evident. Food was announced by the chef and beautifully presented. Vegetarian choices were available. We had early morning and late afternoon game drives with a good number of species sighted. Wild dogs, Lions, Wild cat and Leopard and many antelope and Elephant. Good bird knowledge shown too. The area is quite wooded so don’t expect plains species in any number. The Hyena didn’t show up but footprints around the tent each morning showed they were about somewhere. Fantastic Elephant encounters from the deck of the camp at several times in the day and evening. Coffee stops, a wonderful bush picnic lunch laid out by the staff, high tea and daily sundowners meant we never went hungry or unrefreshed. We were always met on arrival and escorted to our vehicle on departure. Everyone checked how we were and showed interest in our experiences. The camp wasn’t full and could cope well with more visitors. Overall we couldn’t find any fault. We had hot water bottles for our beds and first thing in the morning and blankets whenever we needed them. It was winter. We did brave the pool mainly for its marvellous setting. No shortage of hot water in the tent. A perfect camp for including in your safari and a good contrast being on the dry side rather than the wetter delta area and the more commercial Chobi river camps.

Reviewed By Moesi_KushThird Bridge had the most friendliest staff ever! Their ablution blocks were always squeaky clean too. We had a chance to see a pride of lions right by the gate and many more. Unfortunately for us, it rained alot though

Sable Alley is a complete rebuild of a favourite old bush camp. Overlooking a lagoon that’s connected to the Khwai and Sable Alley rivers, just a stone’s throw from the world-famous Moremi Game Reserve, this enviable location means the game literally comes to us. From the swimming pool, lounge, outdoor seating areas and all the guest’s tents there are uninterrupted views of the resident pod of around 30 hippos and the large herds of plains game, elephant and buffalo coming to drink – an idyllic way to spend an afternoon, especially with a cold gin and tonic in hand. When you are ready to explore further afield, Sable Alley’s expert guides are on hand to interpret the sights, smells, and sounds of the bush. The massive 440,000 acre Khwai Private Reserve comprises some of the most fantastically diverse habitats in northern Botswana, including riverine woodlands, open floodplains, rivers and mopane woodland. This range of habitats means an array of wildlife, including lion, leopard, wild dog, elephant, buffalo and of course the eponymous sable antelope. Game viewing will not just be from safari vehicles (both during the day and at night). At Sable Alley we also offer mokoro safaris —enjoy being gently ‘poled’ along the water in a traditional canoe—a wonderful way to do some bird watching and game viewing. Reviewed By KolobezkoThis was second lodge on our 10 days trip to Botswana and we loved everything about it. Lodge itself is beautiful! All the common areas are open space and facing water hole filled with hippos. Animals come to have a drink all day long, so you can have your drink and watch baboons, impalas, even elephants come by. Incredible. " Tents" are stunning, incredibly spacious with large dressing/bathroom area, indoor and outdoor shower, deck overlooking water. Food was fantastic, you always had couple of choices of main course and presentation was always beautiful. The best part however were game drives. We had phenomenal tracker Tizzar and every game drive exceeded our expectations. This was my 11 th African safari, but by far the best one and I hope to return. 5 star all the way!

Typisches Camp im Moremi und ein Muss
Reviewed By Backpacker_1980Die Campsite ist sauber, mitten in der Wildnis und ein paar Kilometer vom Gate entfernt. Die Campsites liegen nicht zu dicht beieinander. Es gibt Möglichkeiten seine Wäsche und Geschirr zu waschen. Die Duschen und WC’s sind sauber und sehen in allen staatlichen Camps gleich aus. Wasserlöcher o.ä. sind ein paar Kilometer entfernt…will man dort morgens bei Zeiten vor Ort sein, muss man etwas Fahrzeit einplanen, zudem liegen diese vor dem Gate.

Reviewed By SylvianeD489Nous avons vu beaucoup d'animaux et ce, après de la piste ensablée pas facile du tout. Mais, tandis que nous faisons des bonds sur nos sièges, nous apercevons des éléphants, des girafes, des kudus, impalas et autres. Le mode camping avec une hyène rodant la nuit autour de notre tente fut un grand moment de...frousse.
