Family-run place, excellent location
Reviewed By jonet2015Best location to stay in Mirissa - you cross the road and reach Turtle Bay - a more private and chilled out beach than the main Mirissa beach. Also a shorter walk to coconut hill than from central Mirissa. The guest house itself was charming - we received a very warm welcome by this family-run place. Breakfast was home-made and generous; lots of fruit, toast, eggs, yoghurt. Even though we stayed in the simplest room, we had a balcony and although small, it was quite comfortable. If we came again, we'd probably opt for one of the bigger rooms which is more what you see in pictures (also closer to the pool, in a different building). AC and fan worked great.

Reviewed By CasieMartin- Where to start… the loud music that literally jolted the room so much that we couldn’t sleep from a bar nearby. When we asked the staff what time it’d finish they said 12 am. At 2am we asked again and they said ‘we don’t know, it happens once a week and on random days’ The music stopped at 6.27am so we could sleep then. Upon numerous asking for compensation for our lack of sleep (which we had paid for) they denied this and numerous emails to the company all were denied. Sadly such a terrible stay (others we met at the pool also had the same experience too) this is disappointing. I would advice to stay away from coconut hill as the bar is there and you can get a decent sleep. - Even though it states there is alcohol at the property there isn’t as they said it’s not licensed. Clean atmosphere and facilities and a great bed with bathroom. Organized PCR for us without a problem.

The staff at Wavelength were so understanding and made us feel extremely welcome. We were given a downstairs room as I couldn't manage the stairs, and it was perfect! Clean bedding, great AC and fan and just by the pool. This hotel is a little gem, within easy reach of the beach and restaurants. The staff here are so accommodating, nothing is too much trouble. The pool is clean, and towels are provided. Thank you all for understanding our situation and making what could have been an absolute disaster into a most welcome stay. Breakfast was the basic eggs, fruit, toast and jam, but all served with a smile. Thank you guys for getting us out of what could have been a distasterous trip. We booked for a whale watching trip online with Raja and the Whales.com, excellent!

Reviewed By Ahat21This is a good mid-range option. Very central location on a side street and a short walk to the beach, restaurants and coffee shops. Supermarket nearby too. Rooms are very basic but clean and spacious. Wifi was not too good. The family that run the hotel are pleasant and leave you to do as you please!

Owner forgot he was providing a service
Reviewed By rickjetThe property was as expected except for a few things that the owner has changed and is relevant to Sri Lanka at the moment: 1. Power Cuts - the owner does not have a generator 2. Owner has built a separate side entrance with steep wooden steps 3. Owner asked us to cancel our booking on booking.com so he can avoid paying government taxes and the 10-20% fee to booking.com - we declined as we would be charged 30 dollars and it would leave us with no protection. The wife let us in, she did not look happy, I think she does not want people to stay there anymore and the owner does, it seems they have some sort of issue as she was always having a go at him and she was rude to my partner - asking her to take off her shoes before climbing the steep wooden steps. When another couple arrived we found the husband did not ask them to take off their trainers. I raised this inconsistency with him later and said he had tried to speak to his wife about this. A bigger issue was the first two times I met and spoke to the owner, he spoke about how prices are high in Sri Lanka for gas, electric, food and more and that he does not want to book his place out anymore. We felt he wanted us to leave, he was moaning and I think he forgot that he is providing a service. The icing on the cake was when we left, I spoke to him about the economic crisis in Sri Lanka and that surely bringing tourists in would help with the foreign currency issue. Soon after we left he cancelled the booking on booking.com so we paid 66 dollars and before this he offered me to pay him 58 dollars. Personally, this family lives downstairs and has two young children so their circumstances have changed. I think the wife does not want people in the upstairs of the property anymore. Overall we didn't feel welcomed until after the initial day as we had spoken to booking.com who had spoken to him about asking us to cancel the booking. The actual room itself was good, spacious, clean and with a balcony. However I would avoid staying here as the family is downstairs and you can hear the baby and they look through the windows when you leave, enter to come to talk about money as they want more money from you. They don't understand that tourists form part of the answer to the climate in Sri Lanka. I would say this is a common theme at the moment in Sri Lanka, about people getting frustrated and trying to get more money from people tourists and acting in an unintegral manner. To me the owner did not seem savvy enough, his property is good enough to book out and make good money from. His speech about life is hard seemed to contradict the property and what he was able to serve us for breakfast. Bottom line is, we paid for 2 nights and they did not make us feel too welcomed, it was more like tourists are a burden to them.

Reviewed By Jagathasoka123I visited Edelweiss resort early May this year with a bunch of my childhood friends. It provided a great occasion for all of us since some of us met almost after 30 years. The location has it's own scenic beauty with a nice beach front view and a clean and spacious garden and a swimming pool. The rooms has ample space and washrooms are spotless clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful that gave us a very homely feeling while respecting our privacy. I would recommend this resort to any family or a group planning to spend their next vacation .

I had full Board homemade Ayuveda food included the Panchakarma Treatment. This means everyday full body massage, some herbal bath, steam bath, herbal inhalation, flower bath and nose cleaning and intestine purigation. The atmosphere is very warm and friendly. I was pampered all the time of my stay. I really recommend to stay at this place and take the chance of an authentic Ayuveda Treatment.

Reviewed By christiansJ4898MJA bit off from Mirissa central, but nice to enjoy a beach walk as Mirissa Beach is quite crowded. Dive centers nearby. Nice and clean rooms. Owner welcomed me with a fresh coconut. Will arrange Tuk Tuk pickups for 300 SLR.
