Reviewed By LaCenterentola- living at the castle was a special and enchanting feeling for us. - the landlady was very friendly and had cute dogs welcoming all guests - breakfast buffet was huge and exciting - the bathroom offered a wonderful view onto the countryside - room furnished in the old style though with modern and stylish bathroom - sleeping quality was not so good - new matresses would be good - overall a wonderful experience

We are the only hotel in Mariestad that has both a garden and is located in the outskirts of the city center. With us you stay in a beautiful and quiet environment, with only a 3 minute walk to the city centre with restaurants, shopping, the harbour and more! The hotel has an old and exciting history which we are happy to tell you about at your arrival. We are one of few cultural markt buildings in Mariestad because of it's history and architecture. We have 12 double/single rooms, 1 Suite/family room, 1 Superior room and 1 appartment. In the morning you will be served our ecological breakfast with some products that are produced near us. During the summer you can eat in our lovely garden! Welcome to stay with us - the most fully booked hotel in Mariestad! Our bistro is open mon-thu. Welcome to us!
Hotel Wictoria in Carona times was decent
Reviewed By m_prebbleI needed to stay one night in Mariestad and this hotel was booked on the day, via their website. For the size of the room and the fact that the hotel was probably nearly empty due to the COVID19 situation, the room was perhaps a little expensive, but this was a good stay overall. One could book directly via their own site, with no prepayment required. I was arriving late from Malmö, and the reception would be closed by the time I arrived. However, the receptionist Emma left me detailed instructions over SMS on how to collect the key and getting to my room was no problem. There is 4 (or 5 depending how nicely people park) parks off a side street to the hotel. Location is very central. The room was tiny, but functional. Single bed with a handy plug beside the bed (although a bedside cabinet/shelf above would have been helpful). The view outside was directly into another wall. Bathroom was cramped, but shower pressure was good. The toilet is very near the sink, so I was afraid of knocking/dropping toiletries into the bowl. Nice touches include a stocked minibar fridge with semi-reasonable prices (for being a minibar) and they even offered Ramlösa bubble water for free. Despite the low occupancy and Carona, the breakfast buffet was passable. I can imagine that it would be even better in normal times. Receptionist was friendly on checkout. I would stay here again, although perhaps in a bigger room.

Reviewed By reklam1234I had a room in the annex. Nice room with a balcony. Seems pretty newly renovated. Clean rooms. Fresh new bathroom. Towels clean but aged. No air condition. Nice with a patio bar but the reception feels a really dated. I really hate that the double bed is actually two single beds that easily move apart.

Was looking to stay at this hotel but the massive refugee inhabitants have taken over the hotel charm
Reviewed By worldtraveller784After arriving at the hotel grounds, it resembled a refugee shelter more than the quaint hotel that it had previously been famous for. Masses of Syrians, Afghans and so on, standing around outside intimidating passers by. How can an owner take in these people and self sabotage their own business in this way? I will never stay here again and will tell others of my experience also.

Reviewed By TorslandaboDid not expect that much but got surprised, free parking, newly renovated room. Breakfast buffet was good. Had the room towards the street and with windows closed there was very little noice. Situated at the main square it’s really central and walking distance to all restaurants that are available in this small town.

Excrement, bodily fluids, urine, smell on sheets - see pictures
Reviewed By D EThis Hotel was awful. We have stayed in some rough places in our time around the world but this bets them all. Infact we could'nt let our son stay in this filth and he brokedown crying and saying he would prefer to sleep in the car. This is not a disgruntled guest as after checking in and seeing the state of the room (offered two and neither any better than the other) we walked out. The rooms we were shown were nothing like the pictures on the booking page. We had excrement on the duvet (son's bed), Bodily fluids and stains with a smell of urine on the main bed duvet, urine in the toilet that was old and the room smelt awful. Dust in layers and generally run down, and one room offered was a renovated room. Again see pictures. The lady who was left in charge while the management were off, just cried when she was shown the state of the rooms and sheets. We felt for her as she was clearly very embarressed and clearly not able to handle the situation. She did call the manager and my wife spoke to her in Swedish - she was totally useless and blamed us for making a fuss. Told my wife that the pictures do not reflect all the rooms as shown on the website and complained we had upset her staff. This was untrue and when we advised the duty manager had broken down when shown the room she just continued to be rude and aggressive. She was difficault, obstructive, in denial of the standards this hotel offers. We advised that it should be the cleaners job to inform management of sheets and pillows and general filth like these rooms and that human waste should be burnt not covered up. This was a health hazzard and we would not let our son stay in such a place. If this is the standard of the rooms, imagine what it is like behind closed doors and in the kitchen area! We should get a letter of appologie but this has not been forthcoming. Shocking and a disgrace and if you are travelling with children be aware. Never again and should be closed down. We should be compensated for the awful treatments, disgraceful miss- discription on the website and inconvenience caused during our trip. However, we were told by the manager to look again at the website to see the state of the rooms as we were wrong and the hotel does look as it does on the website. We did have another look and couldnt find one picture of excrement, bodily fluids, urine, dust and general filth that the Rasta Mariestad. We did not find one picture of staff crying at the state of the place and embarrassment, or one staff member taking full responsibility. Someone should close this place down, do a proper check and burn human waste on sheets and pillows, clean and update all rooms and relaunch. I am sure they will respond with some cover up story, blame us and its guests but management is management and they are paid to take responsibility and sort out this place. The cleaners should no better and also take responsibility. Its a health hassard. Our experience was true and pictures taken.
