Colquhoun's

Beautiful view over Loch Lomond from tables near the windows. Overall experience was disappointing; the website indicates a restaurant providing higher quality dining than experienced. Menu is basic and uninspiring. Service was poor, long wait and served by a young lady with an unhelpful attitude. Dish chosen was lacking two key ingredients, however a replacement was served. This had been planned as a late lunch for my mother's 80th birthday and email communication prior to arrival promised much and delivered little. We would not return.

We visit Cucina fairly regularly. More recently we visited for a 50th celebration with family - 26 of us. Irrespective of the size of our party, the service was impeccable as was the food. All orders arrived - correct and within a reasonable time for the number of us. Every single dish was delicious as I'd asked how everyone's meal was. Fillet steak in particular is huge, cooked to order and delish. All in all still one of our favourite places to go. Cannot fault Jason and his team for service.

Martin Wishart at Loch Lomond

Edinburghs esteemed chef, Martin Wishart, has added a touch of Michelin-starred luxury to the already impressive Cameron House a stylish hotel on the shores of Loch Lomond. Head Chef Stewart Boyles worked with Martin in the kitchen at Restaurant Martin Wishart, so its no surprise that the food here is similarly flawless. The menu features elegant French dishes like roast John Dory forestire with truffle jus; Jerusalem artichoke velout with langoustines; and a lighter-than-air passion fruit souffl. The restaurant itself is light and airy with striped chairs, comfortable banquettes and shades of taupe and plum creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The attentive service, unpretentious atmosphere and thoughtfully chosen wine list complete this unforgettable dining experience.

FABULOUS in every way!!!
Sun 26 Nov, 12:30, x2 - Sunday Lunch
I am a regular at Cameron House, using the Boathouse as my 'local' from the Marina, and Great Scots Bar / Cameron Grill for "nights out", byt only my 2nd visit to MW. My first was 3 years ago for the "taster" menu, but this time just for lunch.
Fabulous value at £32 per head for 3 courses, cos by the time you have all the canapés etc, it's far more than 3!
We both opted for the £25.50 option to have matching wines too.
Also, as there are 2 options per course, we chose to go 50:50 on every dish, so just had ONE of every of dishes on the "Du Jour" menu.
The main course lamw was "to die for", but all of the other dishes were fab too, ditto the canapés.
Faultless service, great Sommelier, awesome food - we're back there in 2 weeks for a repeat!!!
FINE DINING at its very best - you'd be doing amazingly well to find a better place to eat ANYWHERE!!!!!

The food is absolutely amazing. The garlic mushrooms were absolutely delicious! The catch of the day was pike and I had it with mashed potatoes and vegetables. The fish was fresh and well prepared and was accompanied by freshly boiled veggies.
My partner had a delicious cullen skink and the steak pie which was accompanied by hand cut fries, some of the best I have ever tasted.
The staff was very welcoming and charming. We have enjoyed it and will definitely go back!

The Rowardennan Hotel Restaurant

Went here for lunch yesterday and was slightly disappointed.
There is not much atmosphere apart from the welcoming roaring log burner. The soup was a small bowl with an equally small bread roll with it. My wife who is an ardent soup fan, felt it was not as wholesome as she would have expected from a place frequented by hungry walkers. At £4:50 a bowl it's over priced for what they serve. (To be fair if you have it with a panini etc it's only £2:50).
I had the steak pie, which had a healthy portion of steak, very good chips and veg. The sauce with the steak was rather strange, not unpleasant but one I had not encountered before.... Tasted as though it was full of powdered gravy...
The staff did not seem to enjoy working, no smiles or pleasant comments, all very functional.
This place has such potential but we're unlikely to return.

We stopped off for lunch on our way to Oban, wish we hadn't bothered. The young lady who greeted us was lovely, very friendly. We were given menus and she took our drinks order. The food was expensive but everything sounded nice. We both decided on the Venison burger which came with chips. The burgers were delicious but unfortunately the chips were awful, very dry and tasted like they had been cooked earlier and just dipped in the fryer to refresh them. Certainly not worth £13.95 each. When we went to pay we were asked if everything was ok, we said we didn't enjoy the chips they were very dry and they just said, oh I'll mention it to the Chef. Obviously not interested and I very much doubt that they mentioned it to the Chef. Wouldn't recommend.
