WELLIES is a unique small hotel only one hour from Tokyo in Karuizawa. Chris, the British owner offer gastro-pub style cuisine in a relaxed atmosphere. Most of our rooms have cool functional designs and funky British wallpaper. Spend time on the terrace or garden enjoying the natural surroundings (we are very popular with Birders in the winter), or have a drink at the bar with friends old and new. We are only 10 minutes drive from the JR Karuizawa (Shinkansen) , Outlet shopping, Prince ski resort and Kyu-Karuizawa old town. We are less than 5-minutes from Hoshino area (Harunire Terrace, Tombo No Yu hot spring, Stone Church, Seizon Art Museum and Blestoncourt wedding hotel). We are only 3 minutes drive from Naka-Karuizawa station. Convenient for birding. Eat with us or we can give advice on local restaurants and also the inside track on things to do and see in the area. We are about 7 minutes walk from Naka-Karuizawa station. The whole hotel is NO SMOKING inside.

Reviewed By vara77年に一度は訪れていたイギリス旅行がコロナの影響でここ2年程訪れる機会を失っていたので、今回の軽井沢旅行では"イギリス”を身近に感じたくてこちらに滞在させて頂きました。ソロ旅でも温かく迎えてくださったオーナーやスタッフに感謝。特にオーナー手作りのお料理は本当に美味しく頂きました。こちらに滞在されるのであれば朝食だけでなく夕食も是非召し上がられることをお勧めします。 素敵な時間をありがとう。 Your homemade cooking was so delicious that remainded me of my staying in England.

A Comfortable and Friendly Home
Reviewed By kylewY4977AXI had a fantastic time at Bellscabin, and am happy that I could stay for two nights because one wouldn't have been enough! The owners are friendly and warm, willing to help and answer any questions they can. The setting is incredibly beautiful and if you're an avid walker or hiker it's an ideal base with plenty of interesting things to check out in the immediate vicinity, and if you're willing to put in a 45 minute walk uphill, you can get to Karuizawa town easily enough. I visited Bellscabin during winter and the warm, cosy atmosphere was truly a blessing to come home to. The dorms are small and comfortable and the amenities offer everything you need from a backpackers. They make a solid BLT and a delicious cup of coffee so you can start your day on a good foot. I will definitely be back, hopefully in the Spring this time!

Cozy with very friendly caretakers cum owners
Reviewed By llydzziStayed in a single room with shared bath for a night. Lots of free amenities to take at the lobby. Free flow of water too. The shared bath and toilets are kept clean, so is the room. Location is superb, 15 mins walk to everything - JR station, Kumobaike Pond, Karuizawa Ginza and the Karuizawa Red Bus Stop at Tokyo Harvest Club. Although a 1min short walk through the woods to get to the hotel, it is very safe. Just switch on your phone touchlight if it gets dark. Will definitely stay here again.

Great hospitality
Reviewed By noelw946This B&B is a hidden gem! The building is very nice and modern and the rooms are large with decks and high tech bathrooms. We had fantastic Japanese breakfast every morning (western is also available). The B&B is in a wooded area and walkable to Hoshino Onsen and the shopping/restaurant area. It is not close to the train station but they offer free shuttle service. The best part about this B&B are the owners. They are wonderful and you feel taken care of and feel like you’re a part of their family. They were very helpful and kind.

A place where you can relax in a quiet forest. A small hotel with simple service, in a calm atmosphere, the beautiful scenery and refreshing breeze of Karuizawa offers a relaxing time. You can also secure a private space and enjoying the stay of a highland resort house. Located about 10 minutes by walk from the North exit of Nakakaruizawa Station, it is an ideal base for sightseeing, shopping and leisure.

I was helping my sons and their friends to plan their trip and noticed this property: great location for visiting the sites in this beautiful area and very reasonable rates. Unfortunately, the people in the group I was helping weren’t able to visit Karuizawa because, for one, they hadn’t enough money in their budget this time for a rail pass. Well, I had been trying to talk with hotel administrators at other properties regarding their availabilities and amenities. It was difficult at best to get any specifics regarding where rooms were located at the properties and which rooms would best accommodate a group of five travelers. Ikoi Village emailed me promptly to reply to my questions. This may seem like a minor detail but it made a world of difference to me. Be aware this isn’t a big hotel chain with the resources to speak with you 24/7. Contact the team via email during business hours and you’ll receive a detailed, polite response (for me it was in English) and it will contribute to a better experience overall. The next time anyone in my circle is able to visit Japan, I’m going to highly recommend this gem-of-a-place. Thank you, Ikoi Villa!

In the morning, you can have fun to eat many kinds of bread with sweet jam and fresh butter again and again. Oven toaster is also available. Also, there are three different tastes of coffee, so you can enjoy choosing best one for you. These coffees are available anytime you want. Orange juice and milk is also prepared for children, so everyone delight eating breakfast. All of these are buffet style so you don't have to take so much time to eat. Furthermore, hotel owners are always welcome their guests friendly. If you go to lounge, they may speak to you and say "hello, how are you?". When you want to know magnificent sight seeing places around the hotel, you don't have to search on the internet. The easiest way is to ask them about their recommendation. They would tell you absolutely wonderful places to visit. The most importantly, Hatagoya hotel meets many guests needs. Hatagoya hotel is chain hotel, and there are 35 hotels in Japan. Most of these hotels allow people who have pets to stay. Therefore, people who have pets can enjoy to stay with their lovely pets. In addition, it is ideal hotel for family to stay. All of the rooms are wide and clean. Beds are big and really comfortable so you can heal some fatigues of trip. The parking area is really close to each rooms, so if your children leave their toy on the car, parents can bring it to them fast. Even though Hatagoya hotel doesn't have gorgeous dinner and hot spring, but it's not important because you can ask the hotel owners about marvelous restaurants or comfortable hot spring and you can go there. I think it is one of the way to enjoy your trip. For these reasons, you can enjoy your trip more than before if you stay Hatagoya hotel.

A cozy Bed & Breakfast with friendly staff but
Reviewed By slow_motion_travelerI stayed there for a night on a rainy day, we actually got stuck there for the rest of the day and the evening. It wasn't easy walking 5 minutes to bus stop when it rain and taxi fare expensive so we didn't go anywhere that day also wifi wasn't working so it was kind of miserable for us. The owner is a good cook, the tasty dinner reminded me a bed & breakfast in France many years ago. The room was comfortable with view of the countryside but the room itself are basic. This would be a good place to stay if you want to get away from everything but if you want to have some sightseeing then you will waste a lots of time by using public transportation if you don't have a car. My suggestion is to stay somewhere in walking distance to the train station instead. This hotel has 3 reviews besides mine but it has a recommendation by TripAdvisor sign at the front entrance, made me wonder what is the requirement for the recommendation?

Reviewed By mmm3672建物自体は古いですが、清掃は行き届いています。ご主人さんがとても温かく迎えてくださり、ゆっくり過ごすことができました。評判通り、夕食の人参スープが濃厚でとても美味しかったです。夕飯、朝食共に男性の方でもお腹いっぱいになるぐらいの量だと思います。そして朝食も焼きたてのパンをいただけて大満足でした！また宿泊したいと思います。
