Its the little things/lack of consistency

Reviewed By Alison G

It’s our last night here. I had to write this because it was the last straw for my disappointment. Firstly, like other reviews mention, the grounds are well kept, staff are always cleaning/sweeping. Many of the staff are extremely nice and very helpful. Only a handful that didn’t offer a smile. We stayed in the noisy tower called Sentry. It has an active pool, playing music most of the day and games. We are one floor above the buffet restaurant, the Pelican grill, the steak restaurant and the Caribbean restaurant. Needless to say, this tower and our room smelt of fried food 24 hrs/day. I really cannot rate the food/restaurants higher than 2/5. It is sub par. Not even the French fries are good! Let me say this…. Check in was very quick and easy. No welcome drink offered. We went to our room which had only 1 washcloth and 1 towel, no hand towels or shower mat on day 1. Day 2 we came to our room twice and had no bathroom towels etc. We had to call for them AGAIN and received them at 4:16pm. Day 3 our last day (yay) we got 3 extra towels, no washcloths. I give up! Tried to get an ice bucket with ice and 2 flutes for our anniversary champagne we bought with us. That was like jumping through hoops. No cups, no coffee making, nothing like that in room except drinks in fridge. We decided to run the bath and experience the lovely soaking tub. We used the last of our shower gel for the bubbles. We twisted the large knob inside the bath to trap the water, no plug in site. Well, the darn water started going down the drain with slurpy sounds. We were left with bubbles in an empty bath. We were p*ssed!! That was the last straw for me. There is a Split in the wood of the door so we can see daylight outside. No tall dressing mirror No boxes of Kleenex in room or bathroom No replacement shower gel No salt, pepper etc at tables in dining rooms/restaurants Good Small buffet Breakfast room but a nice choice. Lovely coffee/ice cream shop Bedroom in Sentry tower modern and bright. Plenty of seating and storage in room (Deluxe ocean view room) Hotel furnishings and decor very nice in Sentry block Simply said, I will not be coming back. Plus there are some staff at the sentry pool bar that only gave great service if you were greasing their palm with $tips. What a shame! I decided to give the Jewel brand a try but NEVER AGAIN. They are not consistent especially with anything that needs to be replaced in the bathroom, food or drinks. Sorry folks, it wasn’t for us.

S Hotel - Jamaican Classy

Reviewed By richardmaloney1988

Where do I even begin. The S Hotel is top notch. First off, it is a five minute drive from the Montego Bay airport. No need to deal with the wild Jamaican roads. The property is beautiful, situated at one of Jamaica’s most famous and wonderful beaches, Doctors Cave Beach Club. There is a main pool and a breathtaking Sky Pool. The Staff at S Hotel was attentive and treats all guests with such respect. There staff was the best I have experienced at all of my many stays to Jamaica. The hotel is all-inclusive so drink as many Red Stripes and eat as much Jerk Chicken as your little heart desires. The 24/7 Cafe serves up the finest Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee, pastries and Jamaican Patties. We came to the hotel with your two young daughters (4 and 2) and the staff treated them like royalty. The Spa Experience was so great, I got an 80 minute Deep Tissue Massage and loved it. Walking distance to Montego Bay’s Hip Strip but if I’m being honest, there is no reason to leave the property. S pays homage to Jamaica culture with class. Can’t wait to book my next stay at S. Trip typeVacation · Family

Great 1st Visit

Reviewed By dan h

This was our 1st trip to Jamaica and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The hotel staff were super friendly and always helpful. I can see others have commented on staff but we had no issues at all and found everyone to be happy and polite. It took about 1hr 30mins to the resort but that went pretty quick, plus you get to see interesting things on the way We were in block 2 (adults only) 3rd floor and the room was nice and spacious. They could do with updating some of the furniture but had a huge comfortable bed and good air con. The fridge was not stocked due to COVID restrictions but we just had to call room service to order food or drink (or use the apps) and they were very quick. Food - The buffets were better than most we have eaten at and varied. The restaurants were also very good (Italian in particular). We would highly recommend going to Garfield's BBQ on the Beach at lunch for the Jerk and Fried chicken which is unreal. Also, whoever makes the fresh cakes at the Café is a great baker. Always a wide selection of cake and pastries available. Entertainment was great too, the steel drums and Fire show on Saturdays was very good. The beach is amazing and we never had any issues getting a place to sit. It goes on for quite a while. We had a couple of issues with towels not being available in the morning but this was sorted quite quickly. They would also come and find you when they had them. There were people selling things on the beach which could be quite annoying but they were friendly and the musicians were good. Security were always there moving them along if needed but all was fine. The only thing I would suggest to the hotel is maybe a facelift ins some areas of the rooms. Also, a resort map on the App would be helpful, so you can look where everything is as the place is big. This could've been at the lobby but I don't remember seeing it. Thank you to all the staff that made this a great first visit.

The Jamaican buffet next to the beach had amazing offerings during lunch service. Favorite restaurant for dinner was Japanese and surf and turf.
