There is not a lot where you can go and have a drink in a relaxed pub. This might be the best one to go. Be careful. You still can smoke in there. So if you don't like that, don't go there. All people in there know each other and it is a friendly atmosphere. A lot of people including the Pub landlord speaks English. So don't be shy, go in there and take in a dose of local gossip and atmosphere.

This unique cellar located restaurant in a very old part of an old country town, Neu Anspach has been there forever. Previous life it was an old cow shed, now renovated and decorated in a country style (German of course) but the wine list is extensive. Buy expensive hard to get wines by the glass or do what I did and splash out E70 on the most superb Spatburgunder - Weis or even Gekeltert (Ohe-Schalei) - absolutely sublime, top this all off with a lovely selection of cheeses or even their evening special - candles, quiet atmosphere and located next door to a lovely art gallery - what more could one want.

After a stroll around the Hattsteinweiher pond, we were up for a hearty lunch, but the three of us could not decide what type of cuisine we were collectively in the mood for. Fortunately, Lava Restaurant was just a few hundred meters down the road from Hattsteinweiher Park. It is a great little restaurant catering to every taste with exquisite, reasonably-priced eclectic cuisine. I had a hankering for Schnitzel... any kind of Schnitzel... so I ordered Jaegerschnitzel smothered in creamy mushroom sauce. Loved every bite of it! My wife and cousin ordered Mediterranean pasta dishes, and they were equally pleased as well. The restaurant in situated in the front end of The Usingen Tennis Club amidst the beautiful countryside of Hattsteinweiher Park. There is plenty of parking and room for a post-Mittagessen Spaziergang to walk off some of the calories from a delicious meal. The restaurant is family-owned and hands-on in the operation of the restaurant. Needless, to say, the owner and the staff will bend over backwards to oblige the patrons. If you ever find yourself in the gorgeous hills and forests of Taunus, I wholeheartedly recommend a meal at Lava Restaurant! And if there in mid-May, please sample their Asparagus season menu.

Amazing setting. A building constricted in the 18th century yet quite current as it is well visited. A great place to sample a good home brewed traditional beer. Just amazing. The food what you would expect and prices are adequate. Lovely place. Will come again.
