Its station is a major railway junction and it has a port on the river Main, making it an important transport centre. The town is known for being the birthplace of Jakob and Wilhelm Grimm and Franciscus Sylvius. Since the 16th century it was a centre of precious metal working with many goldsmiths. It is home to Heraeus, one of the largest family-owned companies in Germany.

We enjoyed a sunny lunch at this bar. You sit on the square of Hanau, "Marktplatz" and have a nice view on the city hall and the Grimm brothers statue. We had some bruschetta and a ceasar's sallad. Both were good, but nothing special. Beer selection is bad. The service was quite friendly but I wish they would have recommended to add extras to the ceasar's sallad as we did not realize that when you order a ceasar sallad, it's just without proteins.There is another relatively new bar (opnened 2014?) on the same square which is slightly better (especially drink menu).

An intimist design place. A good sign. An open kitchen. A good sign. A reduced (handwritten !) menu. Thatâs a good sign. There is a real chef here and Sinkaâs kitchen is definitely a Unique place in Hanau. Give it a try. You will not be disappointed if you like great quality good with fresh ingredients if the season.

We arrived shortly before 8 pm on a Sunday night. All of our first choices were done for the day. We ended up with very good food and friendly service. Next time we will go earlier.

breakfast location, you choose a mixed plate with e.g. ham, jam, eggs etc. for about 4-8 EUR per person.The quality of the food was good, the service nice and the location is wonderful as you do not expect such a calm place less than 100 meter from the busy live in the city away.Dont forget to book a table on the terrace!

Hanau-Steinheim is a charming old village that seems largely untouched by WW2. And this restaurant looks and feels German. The X-Mas decorations are tasteful yet intricate - with hand crafted mobile that take you back in time. The husband cooks and the wife takes care of the customers. I felt I was visiting my long lost uncle. The food was superb - w/just the right amount of spices - and the service was fast and w/lots of smiles (although the place was full). The price was better than correct - and the beer on tap made me wish I lived in Germany.

Location: nice terrace, clean, calm, view on the golf course, a lot of sun shades.Food: we were surprised that the owner was Indian as we expected an Italian restaurant. In fact, the menu consists of pasta, Schnitzel and two Indian dishes. As the owners are Indian, we went for the Indian dishes, of course! Chicken Tikka Masala and a Lamb curry. And both curries were delicious, perfectly cooked and also nicely presented: a kind of fried naan bread role which was more like a cookie and some strips of fresh garlic. Service: friendly, German skills could be improved a littleAll in all, perfectly cooked food, not sophisticated though, on a quaint terrace.

This place is easy to be overseen from the road. But if you enter, then you will see the nice garden at the back where you can have a good german beer and a traditional dish. Only open in the afternoon and for dinner!

I had eaten here on several occasions.The restaurant is in the Altstadt of Hanau, a small but nice area wih several restaurants.Opens very early and there tends to be a lot of people.Dishes are german style, lot's of it but quality wise not that good. What is good about this restraurant is the atmosphere, large tables where people join for dinner or a drink.Service is quick and very friendly, with some good advice ("don't take the salad as a starter, there is one with the main dish") something that would be impossible in many places, let's say in France for example...Price is one of the cheapest in the area.

Had a business lunch arranged here, as suggested by the person I had a meeting with. Was pleasantly surprised by everything, nice place inside, we sat outside as the weather was very nice. Started off with one of the better cappuccinos I've had for a while and for lunch ordered the goat cheese salad. A lot of different ingredients, plenty of goat cheese and a very nice dressing. At first sight expensive, but if you look what you get it's very good value for money. All natural ingredients. The place was very busy, which is a good sign, also many locals which usually also means that quality is good, which I can confirm.
