History is visible all around Goslar, from well-preserved old houses to the Romanesque imperial palace elevated over the city. Designated a World Cultural Heritage Site by UNESCO, the ore mine at Rammelsberg has been closed since 1988, but now teaches visitors about the more than 100 years of mining that occurred in the Harz mountains.

A nice place to stay

Good service, tasteful cuisine and a nice place to stay if you’re traveling with dogs. The buildings are very old and historical. The architecture of the hotel in general is quite neat. The Breakfast buffet has a wide spread selection and the food is delicious too. I would recommend staying here.

The room was very clean and quiet with a nice sunny terrace overlooking the garden. Breakfast was good and guests could choose to sit outside. Be aware that you will be charged 15 euros for staying with your dog at the hotel. However, my dog was treated like a proper guest - was allowed in the dining room and even got a little welcome present.

We were so frustrated with the staff and couldn't wait to leave. A shame as the hotel could be good

Reviewed By Mikael E

The positive thing was that the room had a terrasse and everything in the room was OK. The view from the hotel (but not our room) is great. The bad: The wifi didn't work. I asked one employee and she said; "The wifi always works. If you can't get it to work, then YOU are doing something wrong" and then she left!!! Tried to talk to another staff member, but other than showing me the password, she couldn't / wouldn't help. The next morning it - as by a miracle - worked, without us doing anything. Talked to a 3rd employee (the manager?) when checking out, and he said that the staff doesn't know anything about the wifi, and showed me it worked. However, at the same time, the network to the credit card terminal stopped working... The trash can in the room smelled so badly from smoking/cigarettes I had to place it outside. Had to reserve a timeslot in the restaurant, even though it was almost empty (other hotels and restaurants in Germany simply asks you to fill out a form for Corona tracking purposes)... The room was very small.

Impressive hotel

Reviewed By richarddN1394AR

As many people have already mentioned - this is a stylish and impressive small hotel (16 rooms). It does everything very well indeed. In a converted 'villa style' house on the edge of Goslar (10 minute walk to the centre), it's clear a lot of thought has gone into the design and equipping of this hotel. The rooms are individual and not at all like any chain hotel. Rooms are well equipped and I like tea and coffee in the room. Very comfortable and large bed. Quiet location. Places for about 8 cars on site but easy on-street parking in the residential street. The breakfast was superb - I highly recommend it. Why can't other hotels offer the nice touches that were present here? A slightly different selection of jams, cheeses etc. and always the plates were replenished immediately. Vey attentive staff. If you're looking for a quiet, professional and enjoyable hotel stay then this hotel can be recommended. If you prefer a hotel with more action- bar, restaurant, fitness centre etc etc then you need to look elsewhere.

Avoid at any cost

Reviewed By SophieLadefoged

This hotel is stuck in the 70s. I'm not sure it's been cleaned since then, either.. It looks like an East block prison, the rooms are beyond repair - full of damages, dust and mold. This is the worst kind of "all inclusive" you can get. Food is absolutely horrible, tasteless, breakfast was the same every day with no options. All I could stomach was a dry, white bun with cheese, the rest, including scrambled eggs, were unedible. Dinner tasteless, bland, VERY clearly frosen food that had been re-heated. Often dinner was the same two days in a row. Drinks were served in the smallest glasses I have ever seen, around 100 ml, and you were only allowed to order two glasses per person. Hotel was understaffed, so staff only attended your table and asked for drink orders once. We were constantly thirsty due to this, and simply had to buy bottled water. Impossible to get a hold of any drinks, since staff were too busy to bring you, and the queue for the drink station (which was manned by staff), was often 10-15 minutes long. It felt like a circus! Staff spoke either broken English or broken German. Some tried to be nice, but especially the drink station staff were snarky, snapped at you, snapped at other staff. Can hardly blame them - they constantly had a LONG queue of people wanting drinks, and could only serve small 100 ml glasses, as well as having to forward drinks to the staff who were serving dinner guests. Chaotic and NO WHERE NEAR "all inclusive". They offer you all inclusive, but be aware that this apparently does not include lunch. You can pack your own lunch at the breakfast table; so the same dry wheat buns with cheese. You also only have a very short time to eat in. As mentioned, the hotel looks like an East block prison, spa is closed, swimming pool is closed. They advertise free wifi, but there was none. Fine, we would use our own 3G mobile data, but we can't because signal reception was so poor. So we basically spent all our time without internet, since the WLAN that was promised never worked. Beds were uncomfortable and dirty. Bathroom was dirty. No option to get a double bed, so we only had two twin beds. So, no option for cuddling or sleeping close, since one person would just fall in between the crack between the beds... All in all: this hotel is past it's prime. I'm sure it was a lovely destination in the 70s, but it isn't anymore. It's dirty, broken, moldy. Food is unedible, impossible to get the included drinks, Wifi doesn't work, the balcony is so ruined and dirty you can't use it. Staff are trying their best but will snap at you; I can hardly blame them. Do NOT waste your money here! I know it's cheap, but there's a reason for that. I strongly advise you save up a bit more, and choose a better place to stay. 80% of guests were pensioners who were probably fine with this standard back when they visited the first time (before the hotel became a dirty ruin), and so they keep coming back. This hotel won't be here in 10 years, I bet. And they advertise they have 4 stars! I've been to plenty of 4 and 5 star hotels, so this hotel saying they have 4 stars is a straight up insult. Stay away from this ruin of a hotel!

Nice (and a bit inpolite)

Reviewed By metteryom

We had a nice stay indeed. The location of the hotel is nice, and so is the suite we had. We had some situations where the staff were really inpolite to us (for example a lady at the restuarant yelled at us for sitting down at the table that the other waiter gave to us). Actually we had inpolite experiences in the area in general a few times. We felt that tourists (and espeacially non german speaking) were sometimes not treated very polite.

Absolute best apartments in Goslar

Stayed with friends in 4 out of in total 5 luxury apartments of the same building. Quality of the apartments are extremely high and you find everything you need to have a great stay in Goslar and the Harz. The owners and their service are extremely friendly and everything in the apartments, surroundings and parking garage are spotless clean and extremely well made. Internet wifi are truly high speed and heating, kitchen and bathroom leaves you with no wishes open. Beds are very comfortable and there are TV in all bedrooms. Location is really central for the city with only 5 minutes walk to the Marktplatz and all the shopping streets. I can highly recommand the Italian restaurant Rigoletto just across the street. They make wonderfull pizzas to an affordable price and you can have these also at take-always to bring to your apartment. Staff at Rigoletto are extremely nice with great hospitality and great humor. I strongly advice to avoid the "Brauhaus" restaurant at the Marktplatz, as the staff are everything else than polite and will we where extremely bad treated. Will definately stay in these apartments next time we go to Goslar!

After having read a few bad reviews, I do not understand all the complaining of the guest especially about the dirtiness of the room and pool and about the food. Very strange , especially coming from people from the UK( I know what I am talking about having lived in the UK and Australia). Very happy to find a wellness area where you could have picnic on the floor of the sanitary. Ever tried a sauna in the UK or Australia? Room on the third floor , 320 was spacious, bathroom a little tiny and not at a best standard but no reason to make a bit fuss about it. There is worse in 4 * hotels of the UK. We did not try the restaurant, just a look at the menu and dishes proposed indicated that it would be directly from the deep freezer ?It is a shame , that the photos of the website do not meet the reality. Pool and restaurant much tinier than it shows on the photos and I was really expecting a traditional German restaurant in a beautiful traditional room, with out of norme dishes ( married to a German and after 35 year in this area, I know German specialities). There I got really disappointed lucky us we decided not to eat in this place. About the breakfast you just needed to have a look at the buffet and as most of the hotel, one should know it is most of the time a rip off?Otherwise, friendly staff, quiet location and very clean. Match the German standard.

EXCELLENT

From check in to check out we had a nice 5 nights. The service was very good for only a 3 star hotel. The food was fantastic. The room was spotless and quiet. The bed comfortable. The location is very quiet away from traffic. All the staff were very hospitable and had a smile.. The only complaints we had ,was on the first day we were told we could not put anything on our room,so I asked to put it on my gold card. No you have to pay cash ? ,which I did being our first day, and not knowing any better. The next day a different server told us to the contary, yes put everything on your room for checkout ? We have travelled half way around the World as pensioners and have NEVER been refused paying by card !!! I reported the problem to another member of staff and without mentioning a name she said did he have a bald head on top and grey hair? Yes I said. So she was either a mind reader or someone else had made a complaint ? He was very arrogant and had an attitude problem. If you do not like working in your job simple find other employment. Never once in 5 days did we see him smile or greet people correctly. His name is Herr Kietzmann. The other complaint is allowing DOGS in the restaurant ? Only guide dogs for the blind should ever be allowed.Apart from those 2 issues everything was perfect. Would we come again ? That is debateable depending on our response from the manager who I e mailed yesterday. We both have COPD and the last thing we want as we have pet allergy is DOGS in a restaurant.Special thanks to the staff who helped us namely ZOE;EMMA;SELINA;LAURAN you deserve credit for your hard work.
