Goha Hotel

Reviewed By Tanja S - Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

Location, location, location. Great place to chill out after day tripping. Lovely views over Gondar city. Great sunset. Staff is very helpful, plentiful and attentive. We asked for a table on a lower Terrace and it materialized. We asked for a fire (it was quite windy the 2nd day and hence chilly) and the fire was lit!
We did not stay at the Goha this time, privileging a hotel down town this time, for sake of easy access. But we went for drinks (day 1 of our stay in Gondar) and for drinks and dinner on day 2 and we loved it. First time we stayed at the Goha was in 1993. It's still going strong. Congratulations to the management. Warmly recommended.
There'a a pool as well. And a nice bar and restaurant. And free WiFi. And a lovely water Fountain (very restful to hear the water splashing and gurgling) and very nice classical Ethiopian music. Had not hear for a long time. Very restful as well. Reception staff was quite attentive to our needs, informing us our driver had arrived.
And the hotel was packed. Well done!
Rooms are good as far as I know/overhearing other guests.

Taye Belay Hotel Restaurant

It should have been a delightful breakfast. Instead the serving staff acted like they were slopping the hogs when bringing hot food to the breakfast buffet. They didn't want to be there. I can't imagine buying a meal here at lunch or dinner. Eat at The Four Sisters, 5 minute walk away.

This is an Oasis in Gondar, we had lunch here twice.
Great restaurant, friendly staff and lots of them, drinks cold,
prices reasonable, food really good and in a quiet leafy setting.
Sure it’s touristy but for a reason, it’s just a well run establishment, well done You four .

Elilta Is A New Cultural Restaurant Which You Can Get Very Delicious Ethiopian Food And Ethiopian Live Traditional Dances,,,

Reviewed By 404Traveler86 - Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

The building is large, spacious and well decorated. The service and the bathrooms are also very good. There was a wide variety of dancing and singing performance, and not just from Amhara. The night I went we saw many Gurage Performances. This would be a good way to experience Ethiopian dancing without the harassment of the more traditional clubs. If you don't feel like dancing or tipping the dancers you will not be bullied into it, but you still can if you like.
The location is a little hard to find, but if you are going for the dancing and singing you should be able to hear it from a few blocks away. From piazza head down the hill and take a left before circle hotel. You should here the drums and masinko to your right. Since this place is new and harder to find it is far less packed than other traditional clubs.

Master Chef

Reviewed By Taaffed

The name is bordering on ironic. If you really fancy western food, go here. The kitchen looked clean but our food, which was local, wasn't very nice. Also, the area where the restaurant is appeared to be quite tense as when we left just after nightfall, we saw 5/6 heavily armed soldiers on the street outside the restaurant.
At the bottom of the hill there is a late night shop selling drinks and souvenirs. If you can, have a nightcap here and hopefully some of the locals will come by for a chat, especially one guy who we were luckily enough to converse with who could do lots of accents from Cockney through to Australian!
