After Reading the reviews I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and the level of service. From the schnitzel to the Maultaschen, everyone liked the food. Sitting outside under the large chestnut trees on a warm late spring evening was an added bonus.

We were only in town for a week, but we were able to go to the Einhorn three times. The first was just for drinks in the cellar to soak up some atmosphere. The second and third time we went back for some amazing steak dinners. My favorite item was a fillet with blue cheese and mushrooms. We have to leave town, but can't wait to come back for more. Thanks Rainer for the excellent service.

for Germans this might be acceptable mexican food since they might not know any better. If you have had real mexican food then you know that this is a poor imitation. The place was overstuffed, the Waitstaff disorganized and the food overpriced. When I booked the reservation they actually asked how long we wanted to stay. I pulled 2 hours out of my *** thinking it wouldn't mattter. they actually came to our table and asked us to pay and leave after two hours!! Will never go here again.

Visiting the oldest german sparkling wine cellar is really nice and enjoyable, especially after tasting some of the very nice sparkling wines.
In the shop you will also find a small museum with the history of the wine cellar and on Saturdays go early, because it will be crowded already at 10 am. Very nice courtyard available where to sit and listen to some music (Saturdays only)

Definitely worth a trip to Esslingen. Located in a bit of an industrial area, so weekend trips are the best. I enjoyed a pulled pork BBQ Sandwich, but the rest of my party had burgers. They were all great. They offer flavored coke (from cherry to chocolate) and milkshakes. The Pink coleslaw was a nice side for the BBQ.

A gorgeous Mediterranean atmosphere and this Cucina Casalinga - the delicious Italian food: the resort, our cozy restaurant in the town of Esslingen am Neckar. We offer traditional Italian cuisine with a menu that changes weekly. You can also enjoy in the summer the cozy atmosphere on our balcony about 30 seats and be enchanted by our wine selection of over 70 fine wines worldwide. In addition, we offer you our weekly wechselden lunch from 5,50 €. We are happy to organize your private and business celebrations, of course, during our closing times. Also for exclusive events, we are the right partner. Free parking is available for our guests behind the house.
My husband and I found this lovely Italian restaurant online and went to try it out last night. It was a fabulous find! It is run by young families from Puglia and the food was just fantastic. They only serve a limited menu which rotates weekly but every dish was perfectly prepared with fresh ingredients and paired with superb wines. I had the 3 courses with wines but by the end I could not skip the dessert and I am so glad I didn't! It was also very reasonably priced! The service and ambiance are wonderful. The restaurant has a lovely Terrace but we couldn't enjoy it due to the rain. We will be back! It is only a 15 minute walk from the Esslingen bahnhof as well if you are just visiting or would rather not drink and drive! Enjoy! Oh and P.S. I just saw a poor review on this restaurant and I don't know where they ate? We were there about 2 1/2 hours in all and could have relaxed longer if it wasn't a week night.

The “Goldenes Fässle”, which means Golden Barrel, is a small restaurant in the German City of Esslingen.
The Restaurant serves typical local specialties, ranging from Home made “Maultaschen”, a local specialty that can best be described a a large Ravioli, served in a clear Bouillon, to an excellent Zwiebelrostbraten, which can best be described as Rump steaks seared in a Pan and finished in an oven, topped with plenty of roasted onions and gravy.
The décor of the restaurant is typically for the area, clean and quite cosy. The service was excellent, the food, in my case a Zwiebelrostbraten with homemade Spätzle, a local type of noodles, was of the highest standard.
All in all is the Goldens Fässle an excellent choice for local cuisine and stands in stark contrast to the predominantly foreign cuisine restaurants we passed in Esslingen.
A great tip for those who travel to Esslingen and wish to sample traditional local cuisine at great value for money prices.

Wonderful Cafe located next to several beautiful historical buildings in Esslingen. Definitely recommend a visit here. Enjoy delicious Tiramisu ice cream topped with whipped cream and macaroons, or a hot chocolate, tea and more. Nice selection of cakes, eclairs, pies and more. Sit outside and enjoy the scenery with view to the local vineyards or sit comfortably inside during the colder months of the year. Visited several times now and every time we received friendly service.
