Daughter and granddaughter made a surprise visit, lovely but the cupboards were bare (well almost) so a last minute booking to please all tastes. We all loved the tasting small plates. The mussels ,daughter and I, were very good but a little on the small size. Not a complaint just a comment. My granddaughter s pizza was really excellent, we all had a taste. Crispy thin base and plenty of tasty toppings. Perfect. Puddings good too. The service was pleasing and non intrusive, just right for catching up. Excellent selection of gins too.Hi Penelope thank you so much for your lovely comments on the food and service and glad that you enjoyed yourself we cant wait to all see you again.

Award winning Tearoom in the heart of Havant. good food award 2014 and 2015!
I had read lots of good reviews on Trip advisor ao had high hopes. A friend said she would meet me near my home and Havant isnt too far from home so i took this opportunity to visit. It looked bigger from the pictures. It was busy for lunch on a weekday. Because it was busy it was actually quite noisy and my friend was getting quite a draught every time the door opened. It is a nice cafe however i felt the menu was quite limited, i was expecting a variety of cakes on offer. I also thought it was a tad expensive however the jacket potatoes we both had were nice and lots of filling which is always a plus. Downside slightly that it was cash only which meant i had to cobble some cash together. Will visit again but not with more than one other friend.

The resort is lovely, very inviting and wonderful views from the dining room. We had a table of four and each person had a different opinion of their meals. I ordered the Octopus salad. The octopus was too cold and the jus overpowered the taste. I found a piece of hard plastic in my meal and we made the staff aware of it, there was no apology and no discount for the inconvenience. I then had the Duck breast as a main. It came with braised root vegetables, puy lentils and a red wine sauce. The lentils were very tasty but the duck was very dry and chewy. The chocolate dessert was yummy, the best dish of the meal. Other members of our party had the scallops as an entree, both enjoyed their meal however it came with a scattering of popcorn which didn't quite fit the dish. The other entree dish was the tuna which was very lovely. For mains, one person had the cheese souffle and they stated that the cabbage base was not a great match for the dish. Apart from that it tasted okay. The other meal that was ordered was the Pork Cheeks and that meal appeared to be the best pick of the night. So, the meals that were ordered on the night were hit and miss. The meals are paired with the appropriate wines on the menu and they were all a good match.

This was a repeat visit (the first was a positive experience) however, on this occasion it was the opposite. The âgreeterâ seating us at the restaurant was offhand. The menu has changed and was very limited and the food (unlike my previous visit) was average at best. Standards and menu choice need to get back to where they were to justify the refurbishment and attract custom.

We came here while staying in Petersfield as it seemed to be the nearest 'fine dining' restaurant. The family-run restaurant claim to be more of a brasserie than fine dining, but the food and service are exemplary. Every course was spot on.

Sunday night chips on Hayling. Not busy but service very slow with one guy simply doing very little behind the counter. Order for simple 3 portions of chips and a saveloy took 20 mins. And then thatâs with hardly being rushed off your feet. Eventually the order was ready to go. Shame the chips were average.....and therefore failed to make up for the slow service.

Great service, delicious coffee and tea, plus a lovely shared piece of apple cake with fruit fresh from the local orchard belonging to the vicar apparently. Plus there are three - or at a push - four car park spaces out front which make a drop-in visit very easyMost establishments around that end of Hayling Island seem to be typical beach-cafes or almost greasy-spoons and parking can vary up to £3 (all day, I'll grant, but who needs that??). However, the Madhatter's is a delightful and interesting room that serves a good range of fare and seems to us to be a worthy no. 1 in the localityGood clean facilities as well, which is always welcomeIf you're searching on your phone - or just passing - this shop is highly recommended

We went to the Maypole for my daughters birthday today. Three of us had the pie of the day, and my wife had the tartlet. The dinners were very very tastey, all served with lovely fresh veg. I can certainly recommend this pub, very friendly staff, and a great atmosphere

Red Leicester and Apple Chutney quiche - that is the one I tried, served as a slice with garnish and coleslaw; beautifully cooked with lots of filling and crispy pastry. My Husband chose the Beef and mushroom curry, which he said was good, nice flavour not overpowering, and both priced very reasonably. Due to the sizes of the cakes we shared a Pear and almond slice. We were visiting with friends, a large party of 7 on a Sunday lunchtime (we had booked) there was no delays with friendly, helpful service.A Christmas booking has been made.
