Best food friendly host
Reviewed By kiku_DayShakuhachiThe host at Hojo Suigun Youth Hostel makes wonderful, healthy food - all homemade even the tofu! And it is cheap! And he is extremely friendly. I really enjoyed my stay there and woul recommend it to anyone. Yes, it is not the cleanest place on earth but not at any time at a problematic standard. He had a vacuum cleaner robot running. His food was so varied and wonderful.

Nice stop during Shikoku Henro Trail
Reviewed By Alejandro PNice youth hostel with western rooms. It is very quiet in the top of a mountain with nice views. The way up from Uwajima is 10 minutes. The owners are very nice and they speak English. Price: 3000 Yen

Old, shabby, uncomfortable
Reviewed By MarcAnton WMy girlfriend and I stayed here for three nights in lack of any other cheap & affordable accommodation in Matsuyama and were glad by the time we moved on... Starting with the checkin time which starts at 5pm its pretty late compared to "usual times" around the world. Fortunately, we were allowed to stay at the common area, which was rather small, due to our early arrival. The house offers beds for about 16 people, but there is only one shower and one toilet for all of them. But there is not a sink for hygienic actions. So you had to brush your teeth over the kitchen sink where the bio-waste-smell gets quiet intense into your nose. The cooking space is very narrow, there is no oven and the "kitchen table" on the floor fits maximum 4 - 6 people if you don't want to crunch yourself down. The beds have been pretty hard, didn't had a full blind curtain around them and the air conditioning was only allowed to be on during the night, which made it extremely hot in the house in the afternoon or during the day. The manager lady who runs, but not owns, the place throw a dinner party with non-guest friends on the first evening of our stay which did go past 11pm, people slept (for free) on the floor during the night and been pretty noisy throughout the evening. So overall only the kind of central location and low prices makes this place worth it. But you pay a comfort price for it on top!

Hostel/backpacker Accommodation
Very very hard beds in single sex dorms, but all else (location, cleanliness) excellent.
Reviewed By EmPzStayed here 1 night - excellent location for the dogo (but a very long way from the station, so get a tram). I loved everything about the youth hostel - apart from the hardness of the bunk beds. We had been sleeping on futons on tatami matting for some weeks before staying here, so we were fully accustomed to harder beds, however both my partner and I (in separate dorms) found the futon very very thin on a rock hard bunk, and were consequently tired and quite sore the next day. However... The hostel was lovely, with great ethics regarding food, lifestyle, a holistic approach to health, free fruit when we were there. So I want to give it a higher rating. But I could not have slept on those beds for more than 1 night. Breakfast was good and the shared washing facilities, dorms, the hostel in general were very clean. Free internet too. So, for a lovely hostel in a good location this is a good choice. But I warned you about the beds.

静かな環境のユースホステル
Reviewed By みーこ2014伊予大洲駅から行くと肱川を渡った対岸の大洲城の下に有ります。食事なしで素泊まりです。道はわかりにくいので、日の沈む前、早い時間に行くのがお勧めです。私が宿泊した時は広い和室に一人でした。夜は時間を持て余すほど静かです。

Reviewed By elx_elcheアクセスは悪いですが、それでも何度も訪れたくなる良さがこの宿にはあります。 何と言っても宿の方がとても温かいです。地域の話題から、人生相談のようなことまで、いつも色んな話をするのが楽しみです。 高台にあるため、海辺の町並みが一望できます。春は桜もとても綺麗です。 部屋は古く鍵もありませんので、そういうところを求める人には向いていません。
