Sleeping Trees

Sleep in the Trees - Eat on the Beachs Sleep in a tree tent, on the Beach ! Experience a new, fun and ecological way to sleep on the beach: The Tree Tents ! Koh Rong Samloem's Sunset Beach is the cleanest and quietest beach of Cambodia: White sand, pristine clear water, amazing sunset, phosphorescent plancton by night, untouched jungle and scuba-diving sites, sunset beach have it all!

AVOID - They are doing wrong bookings!

Reviewed By Stefan C

Avoid the Sleeping trees because they operate a dodgy system. You book a tepee and when you arrive there after a long walk in the jungle, they say it's full and throw you in the tree tent. My wife and I booked a tepee for 3 nights. When we checked in, the manager called Fred told us that Agoda indicated for him that our booking was a tree tent instead of a Tepee as per our booking confirmation. We showed him our invoice, but he said that our tepee was already booked by another customer for that night and that it was not his fault. He was blaming Agoda for not making a distinction between the tree tent and the tepee. He also told us that this problem happens every day and that the price of both type of accommodations was the same. BUT, that’s a Lie as you can see for yourself on Agoda. The tepee is double the price as it’s much better! It has a bed, fan, towels, water, and toiletries. We told him that this was not true, and that we paid more, so we requested he paid back the difference, but he refused! So, we ended up sleeping the first night at the Tree tent, and the other two on the tepee. So, basically, we paid for one type of accommodation and receive an inferior one. The zipper at the bottom of the tent was broken, which was annoying because things can fall down. It’s difficult to sleep as a couple because it’s shaky! It had sand as the tent was not properly cleaned. Our luggage had to stay in the wooden box outside the tent. Anyway… Another couple got the same problem on that same day. They booked a tepee and they had to stay for two nights in the tree tent. On the next day, we spoke to an elderly couple, who had to stay for the night on the tree tent even though they booked a tepee. So, they have this “problem” every day and they don’t do anything to sort this out!? Strange… If you book a tepee with the Sleeping Trees, be aware that you may have to sleep as a money in the trees. Amazing beach, amazing sunset, but worst experience as a customer ever!

A lovely paradise...

We (a family with 2 kids, 5 and 8 years old) stayed 3 nights in "Love Resort" at Koh Rong (island). The place is beautiful and relaxing. It is isolated, no one apart from the guests and staff are there. Many things are available free of charge : archery, toys to play with sand, balls, hammocks, beach chairs, kayaks and safety jackets, etc .. The white sand beach is very wide (few 100s meters, just for us :-) ), in the water kids can still play at least 50 meters away from the shore (very shallow water). The family tents are big with 2 "rooms" and 2 double mattresses. Adult can stand up. 4 towels are provided. There are about 12 "rooms" "toilet + showers" together. Soap and shampoo are provided. They are pretty clean. But toilets were running out of paper, very quickly. Restaurant : our breakfast (buffet style) was included but nobody checked if we had chosen this option. It was so easy to cheat, i just want to believe that guests were honest enough not to cheat. The meals we ordered for lunch and dinner (western and local) were all delicious. Important : the restaurant closes at 21:00 Wifi is available only where the reception / restaurant is. The 1st 24 hours there were a lot of persons in the resort, and it was obvious that the staff were a bit in trouble to get well organised (very slow to serve the food, forget some orders...). Moreover in the morning and in the evening, the queue was quite long, to go to the "toilet + showers". This place has a very high potential to be even more successful. We understood they had some plans to increase their capacity (don't know when). If they finally do it, I hope they will first improve their organisation or else I am afraid they will spoil this gem they have in hands. To summarize, today "Love Resort" is a kind of paradise, you cannot believe it exists (for such an affordable price) before you see it ! I definitely recommend this place for all those who just want to rest. I just wish that in the future, "Love Resort" will at least remain the paradise I enjoyed living in !

One of the best parts of our trip

We stayed for 2 nights in Cardamom tented camp on our honyemoon and absolutely loved it. We were the only guests there and the team looked after us really well. Delicious food. Some great trekking and kayaking back down the river afterwards was amazing, catching sight of some hornbills and monkeys amongst the sunset! The small selection of craft beers to go alongside was the cherry on the cake! Tents were spacious, clean, and we had very little trouble with insects etc. Would thoroughly recommend for anyone looking for something different in South cambodia.

A piece of paradise!

From the most beautiful beach to the amazing hosts and food, Nomads Land really is paradise. My partner and I spent a week and half on our stay but we could’ve stayed way longer... One of our favourite things were the huts that open up to the beach where you have an uninterrupted view of the ocean allowing for an awesome sunset view - all from the comfort of bed. The food was also exceptional, a perfect fusion of food from home and Khmer style food. Some of the best dinners we had on our whole trip where had here. The hosts and Khmer staff were very lovely and made us feel right at home. They even took us for a night swim with glow in the dark plankton! This is definitely not an ordinary hotel, but that’s what makes it special. Can’t recommend Nomads Land enough... it’s an experience you won’t regret.

Ten103 is not for everybody, but for many, it is just amazing. We spontaneously flew to the island for 3 days with a group of 9 young people. The island, the wonderful people, the staff and the nature made it an indescribable experience that we will remember for a lifetime. They also took care of getting us on our next plane as fast as possible. A true wild island paradise. It is a really special place and we all felt like at home. It is worth a lot more than the few dollars we paid for it. I will return.

Stayed for two nights, wish I hadn't booked it

Reviewed By prajna82

Booked the dorm for two nights as it was New Year time and I was afraid I would not find a place. Asked if I could have the on the board advertised d discount but no way, had to pay 5usd a night, overpriced when compared to other hostels around, which seam much cleaner and safer. I was quite shocked when I saw the state of the dorm....smellying bad, no mosquito net or proper ventilation, floor covered with sand and other rubbish....mind you, for the two days I was there nobody cleaned the dorm. The window facing the beach was also left wide open. There were some small safes (even a child could run away with easily) in the room, I asked for a lock but there was none. Had to leave my valuables in the bar, which was annoying. Also my phone charger misteriously vanished, my own fault for maybe not keeping it with the valuables. Music playing very loud all night, poor sound, terrible quality and extremely loud. Wish I had known that before! Good site: directly on the beach, clean bathrooms (only two). Moved to another hostel nearby, much happier there.

The Boarding House

We offer a variety of rooms from simple double fan rooms, to air-con stone cottages to fantastic sea-view bungalows. We have a gorgeous location directly on the beach looking out over the bay. All rooms are on the beach and some have a sea view. Our breakfast menu consists of 'Full English' or a variation of the items included i.e. toast, eggs, bacon, sausage etc or muesli or sandwiches. We serve breakfast all day. In the evenings we serve a family-style meal. We will always try to tailor our meals to guests' dietary requirements and requests as much as possible. We have a fully functioning beach bar serving cold soft drinks, beers, smoothies, juices & cocktails. Throughout the day guests often chill out on beanbags, in hammocks or at the bar. The water is extremely shallow in the bay so it's perfect for kids, or big kids playing frisbe etc. In night time it's a perfect place to splash around and see the plankton, which is especially good due to no light pollution.

Beautiful place to stay outside of the city trouble

It was super nice to stay at Emres place. I stayed for a week and enjoyed camping in the garden. There are many mango trees and a beautiful, safe and relaxed energy in the garden. You can easily reach the city or Angkor Wat and spend your days visiting things. But when you come back to the homestay you don't feel any of the hectic life outside anymore. Emre was a nice host, caring for me and helping me to get around town and Angkor. Thank you for the nice time there :)
