Feels like a student accommodation but then with even crappier internet. Then again it fullfills its duty low price, low quality. Noisy rooms, no charm in the rooms. 1 night stay doable, 2 night stay debatable, 3 night stay i recommend finding something else.

Review from couple in late 20s

Reviewed By hannahspan77

We stayed at happy guest house as a couple for 2 nights this week. When we arrived the access details given by email were easy to understand and we got our key and made it to our room. We were sharing a big suitcase and I didn’t see anywhere on their website a mention of the steep narrow spiral stairs. We stayed in room 3 and there are about 50 stairs to get there which are tricky to manoeuvre a suitcase up. Also very tiering each day- we dreaded them! If you are disabled I would not recommend these stairs. We went down for breakfast both days and the staff were super friendly and breakfast was really nice! Local jams, home made chocolate spread , local cheese , croissants and eggs. I could not fault it at all! They even took the time to talk to us about where the food had come from. The room itself was very clean and simple in a good way. Only negative about the room is there was no where to store suitcase so that did get in the way a little and also the bathroom was very small. The location was very central and once out the front door you are in walking distance of many pubs/restaurants and the train station which is very convenient. The only negative regarding location was down stairs there is a shop called dripper store and both nights there they were hosting a pop up shop. I don’t really know what it was for but about 100 people each night gathered there and were all drinking , one night from 6pm- 2am. They were making a lot of noise and we had to walk though them to get to the entrance to our accommodation. Also even though we were 3 floors up it was very noisy. I know this is no fault or happy guest house at all but was a shame for us as both nights we didn’t sleep that well. Lastly I think it would be nice to have a fan in each room as no AC and If the window is left open the noise from outside does make it hard to sleep again. When we visited it was between 20-26 degrees and it did get hot in the rooms.

Surreal but superb!

This is a really great find. The room I was staying in was designed by an artist and boy was it creative! I’ve never stayed in anything like this before. The breakfast was tasty - although the long table had not been tidied up at all from anyone else before me which was a minor negative.

Good value for the money

when you travel by car and want to be near the Expo and Atomium this is a good location. Near the exit of the A-12 and with a gated garage (optional). Not a lot of nice cafe's or restaurants in the area though. However, a Carrefour provided everything we might have needed. The budget room was good value for the money, even situated at the back / garden side of the hotel. Due to corona everything was handled online and that was handled well. I haven't seen any staff however, aside from cleaners in the morning. My daughter was perfectly happy, I was moderately happy with the mattress.

It’s really really not a hotel

Reviewed By WillTreet

Although this place admits here that’s it’s not a hotel, it didn’t say this on the booking site where I reserved the room. There are *no* staff here to help you, even when you’re stranded outside and can’t get in. They were supposed to send me a code to get in. They didn’t. Neither was it clear which room I was supposed to use - which resulted in me getting woken up in the middle of the night. I have no problem with air bnb, but this is an air bnb *not* a hotel, not a hotel, not a bed and breakfast. If you have any problem, you’ll need to call the police or something, because you’re on your own.

High ceilings & nice coffee

Reviewed By FinchReviewers

Accommodation We stayed at EU B&B for one night. We booked a small room, but Sara offered us a bigger room upon arrival free of charge. The room was on the ground floor; it was spacious, comfortable, had lovely purple colours and looked exactly like on the website pictures. It was a historic building with high ceilings and big windows; therefore the room was bright and cosy. Bathroom had an average size, looked freshly renovated. A refrigerator with soft and alcoholic drinks was in the room as well, prices were very cheap (beer can 1-2 Euros). A small kitchen was offered for use to every guest, Nespresso coffee machine and capsules were provided free of charge. The only minus was the thin walls and bad sound insulation. We could hear people talking and passing by our room. Other than that the accommodation was perfect for a couple. Location/Parking B&B is located in a quiet area of Brussels. We did not use public transport & decided to walk to the city centre, which was fine as the weather was nice. For a colder period of time we would recommend to travel by bus as the walk will take at least 30 minutes. We were able to park for free as we were provided with a parking permit – for further parking info in the area speak with Sara. Cleanliness Our room and the kitchen area were tidy; it was noticeable that Sara is taking care of her B&B with love :) Stuff Sara was a pleasant and very helpful woman; she answered all of our questions and allowed us to check out one hour later. Food/Drinks As it’s a B&B we did not expect food or drinks. But it was very nice that good coffee and some drinks in the mini bar were provided. Value for money For our one night stay we paid 69 Euros and consider it very good value for money. We really enjoyed our stay, did not feel any rush with check out and therefore had a relaxed weekend in Brussels. We definitely recommend this hotel to couples with no kids and hope you will enjoy our stay as we did.

La Maison Chantecler

La Maison Chantecler is a little piece of heaven and refinement. Guests will be delighted to discover our wonderful garden or the bright library or the billiard room. The 15 meters outside pool is another ravishment in the summer, among other wellness facilities (fitness equipment, steam shower in the pool room and, on request other services) and outdoor games (ping-pong, croquet, petanque). Delicious organic breakfast (15€). And for those who are musicians, a beautiful piano awaits to be played ! The Anglo-Norman mansion lies in the quiet and green area of Uccle. By car, it is 15 min away from the city center, the European institutions, 5/10 min from the Bois de la Cambre, Fort-Jaco, Place Brugmann and lively neighborhood of Chatelain. The immediate surroundings are also well provided with public transports, restaurants and shops. Parking spaces are available for guests, as well as unlimited wifi. Do not hesitate to contact us by mail or by phone to check availability.

Very disappointed

Reviewed By CarolineMC2

The place is highly overrated and prices very high for what you get. 1) The room we got was tiny (9 sqm) and the bathroom ( 1 sqm to stand) between the WC, shower and sink). Yet it is priced like the others and not shown on their website. Be sure to check the size of the one you're getting; the host should lower prices anyway. 2) The pics show a beautiful livingroom but beware it is not for guests. Hosts are just showing where they live. We were clearly explained that it was "their place". They should remove misleading pics. 3) The host did not inform us about the pool being open and heated in cold seasons. But she said upon us departing "too bad you didn't enjoy the pool" (sic). 4) Breakfast is priced on top, which made the overall bill very salty. Inside, you'll be eating at a communal table; outside (weather permitting) offers more space and charm. 5) We diligently emailed week in advance our arriving time in the early evening. The host called 6x throughout the afternoon putting pressure on us for us to arrive. Not the kind of smooth welcome and planning one would expect (not to mention when paying 180 euros for one night). You can get far better in Brussels on all fronts!

Exceptional value, lovely locale- wish we could stay longer!

My SO and I booked this through Chase UR for a day trip to Brussels. The hotel appeared ideal based on photos and proximity to the Old Town. We were searching for spots in the high budget to mid-range (200-300 USD value), of which there are oddly not many in the city.- yet as it would be, the value of this hotel unequivocally exceeded any of our expectations. SO joked that we might not even bother to leave the hotel and explore the rest of Brussels- it was that comfortable! Our room was the Deluxe Double Room (Chambre Balcon) on the second floor which overlooked the street corner with views down to the historic square. The room was large, comforting and well-lit. The bathroom was clean and the space appeared well-attended. Manager Alex reached out to us the day prior in order to arrange a tour and key pickup. On our arrival, Alex (who is multilingual) greeted us and was incredibly pleasant to interact with. I would book a hotel for his services alone, which included a complementary breakfast catered to our request and an impeccably well-curated selection of local culinary and entertainment attractions within walking distance. He also provided his contact information and pledged to remain available for us if we ever needed anything. This added level of security was comforting for our peace of mind as international travelers. Speaking of well-curated, evidently the hotel is decorated by a professional eye. Beautiful, tasteful modern and contemporary works adorned every space (including a signed Keith Haring in the bathroom) and the furnishing was even moreso compelling. The amenities also include a fitness center with a sauna, a smoke room (my SO and I do not smoke, however, we found it very well ventilated), and a state-of-the-art communal kitchen. (I am not kidding- this kitchen has everything: sunk-in counter wine cooler, restaurant-grade stovetop with a wok burner, and even an autoclave.) Off the kitchen is an impressive outdoor porch area with a grill, bedded apple trees (a nice touch), and enough seating for a large party. The hotel itself is small, individually owned, and has around 4-5 other rooms; all were empty for our stay, so we really had the place to ourselves. We imagine it would be the perfect spot for a larger rendezvous with family and friends staying in several rooms. Regardless, if we find ourselves ever in Brussels again, we will return! Cannot more highly recommend!
