We had the beef and bean rice bowl and the Malaysian peanut curry. Portions were very large (I had to take half of mine home with me). The food was good quality and would like to go back if we were staying longer in the area.

We picked it because it was ranked #3 on Tripadvisor for Nanaimo, and it was walking distance from our hotel. It was so-so. A bit expensive for what we got at $150 all in for three people - we ordered three appetizers, three drinks, a mocktail and one dessert. Three of the drinks we wanted to order were not available and the glass of wine I eventually ordered tasted like it had been opened a while ago. The "polenta fries" were an interesting idea but rather lacking in flavour (the three sauces helped, but they would've been better on a tastier base). The seafood pasta was OK, but not stellar. Seafood three ways was pretty good but came with two of the same sauces as the polenta fries.Bottom line - I would not go again if I were in Nanaimo.

There was no complaints at our table. Two of us had the fish and chips/ 2 pieces each you can order 3 if your really hungry. Our other friend had the blackened chicken caesar salad and said it was great. While we did not order them, the table next to us had burgers and fries, which will be my choice the next time we go and I am sure we will be back

Da Tang

Reviewed By Burrorojo

Normally I'm bright enough not to show up at a restaurant minutes before closing time. Usually the staff are tired and grumpy and the food is past it's 'best before date'. But like every rule there's an exception. Da Tang was it. Five minutes to closing time we show up, tired and hungry. The woman who met us was friendly, high energy and very courteous. The menu is huge - there are pictures of lots of the dishes but what they don't show is the size of the helpings. We ordered a standard wonton and spicy sauce wonton. The spicy bowl was full of wontons in a tasty hot, but not too hot sauce - the standard wonton came in a bowl that was huge. And they didn't skimp on the wontons! We ordered crispy chow mien - lots of veggies and they weren't tired - the broccoli was still crispy as were the peppers. A bonus of a couple of pieces of tasty squid. Same with the Almond Guy Ding. Crispy veggies, lots of almonds and the chicken was cooked to perfection. As with the wonton the servings were pretty big. We left with a big bag of take home food and two meals later we've finally finished it. We'll be back and try more dishes. Maybe try to order a bit less!
