Disclaimer: I travel to Japan a lot, so that's my reference.Ishihara in the Nürnberger Altstadt does a pretty good job in making itself as authentically Japanese as possible. The chefs and the dishes are all Japanese, and there are very few compromises. I recommend one of the set menus: it takes your mind off of ordering, and allows you to enjoy the company and the show. This is real Japanese teppanyaki, and not the overly showy performance you may get elsewhere.Good things: dishes,chefs, seasonings, menu composition, vegetables and mushrooms, Suntory whiskey and Japanese beers available, prices much better than Japan!Not-so-good things: Sushi could be better (but that's a problem in most of Germany), too much salt, beef is not quite up to Japanese standards, only one basic kind of sake available.

My wife and I came here for a date night on a Saturday, with no reservation, and were able to be seated quickly (we were perfectly fine with the bar seating). The waitress gave us plenty of time to look over the menu, wasnât pushy at all, and the dr8nks and food was served in a very timely manner considering how busy they were. I would recommend this place to anyone, and if you want a seat beside the bar, reservations may be useful. Overall extremely friendly and some of the best sushi Iâve ever had (saying a lot).

After giving a tip to the waitress, we realised a 19% service charge had already been added to the bill! The waitress accepted our tip without explaining any service charge :(. Sushi and service was decent, but not worth the 30% surcharge.Hi Michael K,the 19% is not the service charges. Worth the visit if you are near the area and crave something asian.Big portions and tasty food with generous servings of veg and salad It has an extensive selection of sushi although the name of the restaurant seem to suggest that this is a Vietnamese restaurant.

Four 70+ year old Americans ate here with a 9 pm (21 hours) reservation. Walked in and most everyone is young, but having a good time. The wait staff is great; speak good English and very truthful about the various Sushi, Japanese and Vietnamese dishes. We ordered appetizers and really good main dishes from all categories. The beer and wine were excellent. So much fun and such good food.

Cocoon appealed to us as an alternative to the Bavarian cuisine we had been eating for the last few days. The food we chose, Shaking Beef, was very tasty and the vegetables which were part of the dish were perfectly cooked and very colourful. Accompanied by a glass of Merlot it was a thoroughly enjoyable meal. Service was fine although the table next to us seemed to be having a few problems.
