So we like to have dinner in local restaurants. We stayed at the Ritz Carlton Okinawa which was lovely but we prefer local fare over expensive hotel food. This place I as truly a gem. Sashimi was outstanding. Local fish was featured. The environment was warm. Not at all pretentious. After two servings of sake, salad, sashimi, nigiri, tempura, we spent less than 10000 yen (100 USD). GO HERE!!!

For a delicious, sit down meal, if you like Japanese cuisine, this is the place to visit. It can get crowded because it has become popular with tourists so, I always try to get in the door as soon as they open. Twice, over the past month, I have dined here with family. The meals are reasonably priced and, you won't leave there without a full stomach. It is immaculately clean and the staff are friendly as well as efficient. There are many different meals to chose from. My favorite is the Tonkatsu. The meals come, served on a tray with soup, salad and steamed rice. I recommend this establishment to anyone, wanting to enjoy a leisurely meal in the north of Okinawa.

The sushi restaurant is family run (father makes sushi, mother the side dishes and the daughters run the service). The restaurant is a wooden house, lovely decorated and very clean. The sushi was delicious, fresh and for a really good price. We paid around 4500Yen for 3 tuna and 3 salmon rolls, fish soup and rice with sashimi, 3 Cassis&Orange Cocktails. They offer a wide variety of sushi plates and also seperate rolls. The waitress spoke English and was very very friendly! We got fried tuna for free since we were their first guests from Switzerland. We totally recommend to go there!

This is one of my favorite stops when passing through Nago City after spending the day in the northern areas of Okinawa. It is conveniently located, just south of the downtown business district on HWY58 so, it is a great place to stop and take a break. There is a choice of seating, depending upon your preferences: Table and chairs, tatami room or, counter at the sushi bar. While formal, upscale meals are available, I'm usually in a rush to leave the city so, settle for the sushi or, a bowl of Okinawa Soba. The food is delicious and you couldn't ask for a more pleasant staff. English language is very limited so it's best to speak Japanese or, have someone who does, accompany you. There is a small shop at the entrance where you can find some antiques and collectables as well as, herbal teas, local spirits and farm produce at very reasonable prices. So, it is a good idea to look at the fruits and vegetables on your way out, if you want to lower you grocery bill. I recommend this restaurant to all my friends along with some advice: Bring lots of yen.
