Deventer (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈdeːvəntər] ( listen)) is a city and municipality in the Salland region of the province of Overijssel, Netherlands. In 2017, Deventer had a population of 99,577. The city is largely situated on the east bank of the river IJssel, but also has a small part of its territory on the west bank. In 2005 the municipality of Bathmen (with a population of about 5,000 people) was merged with Deventer as part of a national effort to reduce bureaucracy in the country.

After an organised walk around the old streets of Deventer we opted to have dinner at one of the restaurants we had seen on the walk. The restaurant is located in an ancient city farm building which explains the higgledy-piggledy layout. The owner enjoys his role of host and explains the menu options with gusto. The food has Portuguese connections and was well prepared and presented.

Came to A1 in Deventer with family for a special occassion. Service was good, buffet was enormous with a wide variety of food, drinks and desserts. Perfect place to come with family or big group of friends or co-workers as it is an all-you-can-eat buffet and there's no need to wait to waiter to take your order. Very spacious, perfect for families with kids as there is a kid corner downstairs by the restrooms. You can eat and talk while kids are having an awesome time downstairs. There is a beverage area where you can go and get your own drinks: milk, soda, beer and wine...since I don't drink, I'm not sure how the alcoholic beverage are paid for in the end but the price of the buffet includes all you can drink soda and milk (for kids).

On the Stromarkt in Deventer (walking distance from anywhere in town) one finds this warm and friendly Indonesian Restaurant.Where many Chinese Restaurants try to serve Indonesian Food this place has the more authentic tasting Indonesian dishes.My favourite is the Bumbu Bali nasi rames (also possible with Bami) which has numerous Indonesian dishes on one plate. a real treatClean washrooms, friendly service and central location with parking all around.Note:NO credit cards accepted.

Four of us opted for this resataurant late on a Sunday evening. The plalce was almost empty. The food was served on elaborate plates which looked better than their functionality. I chose a seafood paella and was reassure dthere woud be no chorizo. I neednât have worried but was disappointed to be told there would be no mussels. I wa soffered extra prawns so I thought Iâd won a watch. Alas what I got was over grilled prawns on a bed of rice.. a far cry from what Iâd expected!. My firends enjoyed their plantain dishes but I was left feeling a bit cheated.

We came here together for a drink because the terras looked real cozy, we went inside because of the cold. The interior was to much. they tried a robust style with modern twist, the waitresses where wearing a 'lumberjack'-outfit. furniture had a lot of wood and furs but also shiny disco lights and fairy like curtains. So in my opinion the interior was waay to much, and just not giving a relaxed vibe (less is certaibly more here). We ordered two chocolatemilk, which where served in less than 30 seconds so it was water based coco (but must say for waterbased good coco, still never beats milk based). It was served witch whipped cream and some caramelchocolate sparkles and 2 small merinque(way to sweet), But it all looked nice. The waitress was also tó friendly. It has the potential of a nice lounge café, but please lose half of the interior. Would go here again though to try a second time. Menu also looked inviting to try, perhaps next time.

since its opening earlier this spring I've been to this restaurant already five times .. each time I tried different items from the menu and each all dishes were really delicious .. one thing I had each visit are the spring rolls (not the deep fried ones, but the others) .. they are a must-eat .. the fresh ingredients and especially the coriander makes them irresistable .. I hope more people will go here because several times it was a bit too quiet but it's really very much worth going

We had a three course dinner that started with delicious salmon. Followed by sole with tasteful vegetables and finally the dessert consisting of several preparations, all tasting well. Service is correct, quickly enough. We certainly go back!

This is a traditional French restaurant in the famous "Wall street" of Deventer so the location is perfect. Don't expect innovative or experimental dishes. Quality of the ingredients is high and the courses are very well prepared. Staff is attentive and very friendly. The interior is a bit old fashioned with still lives and such, but very neat.We had the 7-course menu. I was not really impressed by the wines to be honest. They were not very distinct. You can choose between Evian, Perrier or tap water. (If I can give a tip to the restaurant use glass bottles instead of the plastic ones to give it a more luxury touch.)Parking within walking distance and best value is best at the so called 'Beestenmarkt' behind the railway station. (You can park you car even closer if you want for much higher rates.)We were lucky to get the best table (in my opinion) which is the table in the middle at the window at Wall street-side. They also have a terrace, but I saw a lot of smokers there so glad to be seated inside after the aperitif.

Six of us in the family had dinner here just before the Christmas holidays. It was during the Dickens Festival held in Deventer every year. Huis Vermeer has three seating areas for their restaurant and we were fortunate enough to be seated in the smallest. It was a cozy room off the central hallway with its own fireplace. The service is impeccable, the food simply out of this world and the wine list impressive. Each course was artfully presented and not too much food. It was everything you'd expect from a highly-regarded, Michelin-starred restaurant. So, where are your judges, Michelin?? Hmmm?

Booked this place based on the reviews, certainly the atmosphere was good and food presentation was fabulous, but the Summer Roll starter I had was bland. The main course of lamb neck was dry and over cooked. Not sure why Jackies attracts the reviews it does, unless people are eating just with their eyes.
