It is the second largest town in the state after Sungai Petani based on the population and one of the important cities in the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia along the longest expressway, located 400 km from Kuala Lumpur and 79 km (49 mi) north of George Town, Penang. The city is home to the Central State Administration Centre and is the administrative centre of Kota Setar District.

Crave for HALAL dim sum especially in northern area and with the same touch of a specialist chinese chef...travel to Grand Alora and enjoy the food. The choices is great and taste is simply delicious. The restaurant setting is high class setting but with the price which is so affordable you will come back for more.I would give an excellent remarks but somehow on that night which is 29th September 2018 ,the male waiter ...which I believe the only male waiter was so noisy and having a big mouth complaining to the other waitresses about the other customer sitting on the front table. I was seating at the back table which my family and I feel so uncomfortable listening to him.

The staff at Asiatic Thai Cuisine restaurant at Mergong, Alor Setar, Kedah are very friendly and courteous.The ala carte menu has lots of choices and the restaurant also offers special set menus. The food is delicious and service is efficient. Prices are very reasonable with a plate of curry prawns priced at only RM26.90. According to Hakimi also known as KB, the restaurant receives fresh seafood on a daily basis so that explains the freshness of the prawns that we savoured. All the dishes that we ordered were superbly delicious. The Thai iced tea is a must-have too. Parking is aplenty in front of the restaurant. It is free parking in the evening and night. For reservations, you can call the Manager Mr Wan or Hakim at 019-4959999.

Been eating here ever since I moved to Alor Setar. Really good food, though a bit pricey for Malaysian standard. But it is still worth a visit.Must try - chicken or beef rendang, begedil and the pineapple pajeri. Try the curry too.

A Thai restaurant branch opened in my hometown Alor Star serving great variety of Thai food, and saved us the need to travel all the way to Jitra (35 mins drive from Alor Star) to have dinner in its main restaurant. We have tried it's chicken, sweet sour salad, shrimps, fried eggs are vegetables are nicely done. Some friends said the main restaurant in Jitra is serving better dishes, but considering the journey it may take, we preferred to dine in at the branch here. Good food, fast serving, reasonable price and nice ambience.

Specialised in local Malay ciusines and south Indian curry..more than 100 varieties of food serve daily.The favourite dishes are local samba belacan and grill fish.open from 10am till 11pm .crowded mostly at 12 pm till 2pm and from 6pm till 9pm.so get ready to rush in for local Kedah foods.

It was a surprise birthday dinner for my beloved mother. A party of 8, we ordered 7 dishes: tofu minced pork soup, steamed fish, coconut kerabu, seafood omelette, mini otak otak, salted egg eggplant and fried malindjo with egg; and finished the meal with nangka dessert and lime dessert. We had a great time dining there. The food was very delicious and service attentive.

this restaurant is a great interpretation of European classic cafe'. As matter of fact, the restaurant/cafe' introduces plenty of coffee varietals plus a wide choice of products from the bakery to go along with your favourite coffee brew. the ambience is very comfortable and they jazz music in the background makes you feel you are not going to move any time soon. Prices are slightly higher than a normal local coffee house but certainly lower than more famous American coffee franchised operations

Very expensive. I find others Nasi Lemak joints are much better and reasonably priced, the one located opposite Nasi Lemak Ong and next to Shell is much better.

It is not that easy to find a good koteow experience if you are a malay. But to be honest ,I've tasted better. However, it is worth the try. It is a bit oily but overall it is a good dinner experience. The Nasi ayam is good too.

We are driving from South Thailand back to KL and decided to detour to Alor Setar for dinner , came to know about this restaurant from TripAdvisor and gave it a try . The restaurant owner recommended us a few dishes to try which was tasty and delicious . So far so good
