Best International food near Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Reviews on International food in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. One of the most multi-cultural and multi-faceted cities in the world, Toronto is a welcoming cosmopolitan community. Its urban sprawl of city blocks, skyscrapers, modish cafes, chic shops, and up-till-dawn clubs is balanced by an expansive network of parklands, beaches, lakes and recreational facilities. It always has its thumb to the pulse, with something new going on or being built, and an overall energetic vibe. Ethnically diverse, the city has a vivacious cross-section of options when it comes to dining, entertainment, festivals, and events. Whether you're attracted by vintage cinemas and antiquing, hiking trails and river rafting, or luxury shopping and spa weekends, Toronto has you covered. Best of all, it preserves its history while also being thoroughly modern, with streets going from contemporary cool to Victorian in under a minute. The city is a fun amalgamation every step of the way!

Personal business took me downtown on a wet and rainy day. Lunch time, we went searching for decent food in the Bathurst/Front area. Ended up having a whole bunch of different 'sausages in a bun'.at "WVRST" - traditional European sausage theme with added exotic and novel twist,,,,eg., 'Game' sausage stuffing of Venison, Wild Boar, Kangaroo, Elk, Duck and Foie Gras and even Crocodile! BTW, to satisfy current trend, they also have a huge selection of 'plant-base' options!Sausage stuffing was well seasoned but unfortunately the sausage skin lacked the desired ' pop'! Meat texture in general was a bit coarse and dry. However, the excellent toasted bun used was great and praise worthy.Unlimited supply of good quality English hot mustard as well as regular and coarse Dijon mustard condiments are provided on the table.Duck fat french fries was a disappointment. Sounded better on paper than they taste. Their chef should head out to Las Vegas, give Gordon Ramsey's version there a try and return back to Toronto and revamped their sad version.Overall, IMHO, high-price, over-rated so-so hot dog products.

This place is wonderful! The food is amazing, the staff are very nice, they serve mimosas after 11am, and they have a beautiful restaurant! There is always a long wait, so I recommend giving yourself 2hours for brunch. They are very good about making sure you know how long it’ll be. It’s totally worth the wait!!

My wife and I had dinner at the Elm Tree with a friend, all of us dining here for the first time. The restaurant has an inviting atmosphere -- cozy without being sticky and elegant without being upscale. There is also a terrace, but as is commonly the case in Toronto it sits beside a busy street and is not terribly inviting for that reason, although it is set back a bit and not right next to the street. Our meals were excellent and all three of us were entirely satisfied with the food. My wife had the Greek Salad for starters and it was authentic in taste and ingredients. The other two of us had the Charred Eggplant and it was outstanding. If you like Middle Eastern cuisine this is a hands-down winner. It is essentially a serving humous topped with baba ganousch and garnished with tabbouleh. Fabulous flavors and contrasting textures, but above all a luxurious mouthfeel. For the mains, my wife and friend had the Scallops and I had the Duck Leg Confit. Both mains were perfectly prepared. The scallops were melt-in-your-mouth tender with a seasoning that reminded us of creole blackened fish. The duck leg was succulent but with a good crackle on the skin. The combination of crunch and tenderness was wonderful. We finished the meal with snifters of Boulard Grand Fine Calvados. The service was confused, however. Perhaps it was a shift change or some such reason. When we arrived we were seated promptly and given water with the menus. But it took nearly 15 minutes to get our drinks and no one seemed to be clearly responsible for our table. Three different servers flitted in and around the table, but the person who was supposed to serve us (Miriam) disappeared after telling us the items of the day and an older fellow who spoke only broken English followed up on the drinks after we asked about the delay, before a third waiter finally took our order and from that point on took care of the table properly. At any rate, we did not 'suffer' or feel frustrated. It was a nice evening and a good meal, and the food really is excellent. The total bill was 219 CAD including the sticker shocker HST Toronto tax. So, the prices are not bad at all considering we had starters, mains, beers and ciders, and finished with calvados. I recommend the restaurant, and would personally return if I lived in Toronto. I would advise the managers to pay more attention to their service structure and strategy, but as I said perhaps we were there at an awkward moment and this is not typical (8.30 p.m.).

Excellent and knowledgeable staff with good recommendations and guidance about the small, but widely varied menu. The food was excellent- every dish, every bite. Try the Lobster Risotto and the white chocolate cheesecake with cranberry/pomegranate garnish. Wonderful selection of single malt Scotch and lovely house cocktails.

We had just arrived in Toronto and were looking for something to hold us over until dinner. We had reservations at Richmond Station for 8:15 p.m., but since it was raining and very close we went here looking for a cup of soup. We had the pumpkin soup, which was very good. But we realized they did not have a formal bar, which was where we were hoping to sit that night. (Yes, we are barflies.) So we canceled our reservation for dinner, but are glad we got to enjoy the place and the good service anyway.

I like choosing restaurants based on location (close to hotel) and Tripadvisor reviews. Because of Labour Day weekend, a lot of restaurants in Toronto were closed, which forced me to look at a larger area around our hotel. This one got decent reviews, but did mean we had to take a taxi. Some Canadian friends decided to join us, and contacted the place to change the booking. They did not need to have bothered, as it was almost empty. It does not look great - it's a dingy pub without much atmosphere. It will probably look and feel better if it is full of people. The service was fine. The food wasn't. At least it was cheap. And there was nothing wrong with the beers. Altogether, this might be a good place for some drinks, if it a bit busier. But I would give the food a miss. I have no idea why so many of the reviews are so positive about the food, because this was not our experience.
