Stumble upon this place by coincidence despite is close location to the Market place. You can dine in and out and if weather allows out is the recommended place to be as inside is a bit less inviting. Visited it several times during my stay as I got stuck on their Flammkuschen with a small sallad. Really tasty and price worthy. Their beers is the best in Halle if beer is your thing. Staff friendly and attentive, prices are very reasonable. They serve genuine food with a smile. Level of english speakers varies even so they all did their best to understand those not able to speak german. You should try to find your way there if not for the food for the bier and the ambience outside.

Just around the corner from the Halle Opera House, this is a great place to come for an after-theater dinner and/or drinks. There are a variety of beers available on tap and in bottles, and our party enjoyed excellent pork schnitzel and Szegediner goulash.

This is a fantastic place to have a date, or just to hang out with friends. They serve some good snacks and appetisers. Drinks were fabulously prepared and presented. Everything tasted fresh and of quality. Prices also seemed in accordance with the level of service. Cocktails cost around 9.50 â¬. Although it's well worth it.

Eb
We were invited by our German friends to dinner at this special restaurant Zum Hendel, right in the house of the famous composer George Friedrich Händel, now a beautiful must-see museum. The restaurant doesn't have any visible sign outside in the street because it's sheltered in a cultural heritage building so be sure to look carefully for this place in the inner courtyard of the Händel's House and you won't be disappointed. The food is so delicious and served in a creative way. The wine is super and the staff is so friendly. Highly recommended when in Halle!

We chose this restaurant because of all the great reviews it had received on Yelp. It was a very cold evening and it was hard to make the decision to walk to it from our hotel, but boy are we glad we did. It allowed us to walk through the pedestrian only shopping street and we came upon a Christmas Market in the main square, which surprised us since it was 5 days after Christmas and in the other cities the Markets had already been shut down. It was a lively, colorful market with tons of people socializing and shopping while drinking their Gluwein. The restaurant was just a few steps off the main square on a side street. We had no reservations, but they found a seat for us anyway. The restaurant is very warm and inviting (it has wood paneling all the way around) and decorated beautifully. Our waitress was very sweet and did her best to translate the menu for us. The menu had such variety of wonderful food. My husband ordered a "sampler" plate which had three different cuts of Deer meat with delicious sides. This restaurant is a must if you are in the area.

The beers and foods in Gasthaus Zum Schad is, as very often in Germany, served in big glasses and portions. The food is tasty, I highly recommend the bratwurst with sauerkrout!

This is a typical German "Gaststätte" with dark wood-paneled walls and everything else that goes with this type of place. Accordingly the portions of the food are huge and very hearty! Great choice of food -specially meat dishes as one would expect in a place like this. I felt beamed back to the DDR, when entering this place as the waitress asked us snippishly if we had made any reservations despite the place being completely empty and sat us in the corner at a tiny table in case any other bigger parties arrived (which of course did not happen in sleepy old Halle on a Monday afternoon). Hilarious. I think this is part if the experience and would come back because the food was great and cheap!
