2nd night in Halle, we again wanted to eat in a local restaurant rather than stay in the hotel. The Monchshof was welcoming as soon as we opened the doors. Very tidy, comfortable and clean, the staff immediately came over and made us comfortable.
3 beers as a starter brought us quickly to the main courses. As the menu was only in German, we ordered as best we could....though our French colleague chickened out and asked the waitress for some interpretation. The others just had a best guess and were not disappointed. My 3-steak medley with a creamy mushroom sauce over pasta was delicious, the others had fish and steak and also said it was marvellous. We helped these on their way with a selection of German wines, all excellent and good value at 5 Euro for a large glass.
Erdbeer (strawberry) crepes for dessert finished off an excellent night out.
Thoroughly recommended for taste and value.

This is a typical German "Gaststätte" with dark wood-paneled walls and everything else that goes with this type of place. Accordingly the portions of the food are huge and very hearty! Great choice of food -specially meat dishes as one would expect in a place like this. I felt beamed back to the DDR, when entering this place as the waitress asked us snippishly if we had made any Reservations despite the place being completely empty and sat us in the corner at a tiny table in case any other bigger parties arrived (which of course did not happen in sleepy old Halle on a Monday afternoon). Hilarious. I think this is part if the experience and would come back because the food was great and cheap!

I have no idea of the interior of this restaurant because we stayed on the patio which is streetside but quite quiet. The menu is full of central German staples. Therefore do no expect fine dining. As a specialty they have horsemeat - and if you are not familiar to, this is no dish of the poor but one of the more expensive on the menu. By the way: it tastes very similar to beef. Take in mind whether you want to stay with regular portions or better take the small one. The hunger of some clients must be enormous, because we where entirely settled with the small ones.
Beer is offered in a wide draft selection, but additional bottled ones are available additionally as well.
For a relaxed lunch or dinner this spot is a perfect choice.

the original albanian restaurant.running by albanians ,nobody over there is greek,they are albanians,the food is not even close to tradittional greek food ,for albanian food is not bad!!
for greek food not even close,
for people who travel to Greece and special in places like crete they can see a big different,
if you want to eat like original albanian go there,
if you want greek food try somewhere else because is a waste of money in that restaurant,
i dont think they learn where to cook food over there

This is a traditional beer hall (195 seats) serving traditional Bohemian food. The beers are mainly Czech; the food is well-cooked and tasty; and all are served by friendly staff. They also feature meal deals as well as daily specials all at very reasonable prices. You can find this gem down Grosse Nickolaistrasse, just one block north of the Roter Turm. Opposite you'll find the Hallescher brewery which also serves good food.

The moment I stepped into the restaurant, I told my friend that it smells so nice, fresh Indian food. I can't keep myself from going there almost every week ever since I have been there first. Take anything from the menu and it is going to be tasty, they way it should be. Balanced spices, no exaggeration, no fancy, just Indian food at its The Best. Thank you Himalaya for being here in Halle for people like me who love to eat home made food away from home but do not like to cook for themselves.

Visited Halle as part of an EU wide project consortium. Our hosts - from the University - suggested this restaurant. We were a group of 10.
The welcome and overall service was excellent, without being claustrophobic.
We were welcomed with their signature cocktail - I forget what it contained, but it was green and gorgeous. We stuck to their set menu. I had the fried Foie Gras followed by the pork chop.
Presentation was absolutely superb and the flavours were to die for.
Desserts were also superb.
Wine selection was limited but very keenly priced. I went for Dr Loosens Riesling and a Cotes de Rhone. Both were excellent, but the white won out.
Overall cost of the meal was €70.
The quality of ingredients, presentation, attention to detail and overall ambience make this one of the best restaurants I have ever visited. The price/quality ratio cannot be beaten.

We went there to have a late breakfast on a relatively quiet Saturday around noon. After a first order for coffee which was quickly taken we waited for about ten minutes to be served but weren't asked if we had any additional wishes. Another five minutes later we asked if we could order breakfast as well. We were then informed that breakfast would take very long and that she couldn't provide an estimate. We were left with this answer as she ran away to take new orders elsewhere. Another ten minutes later she returned and we left her with the money due. An ashtray was never handed to us despite leaving the boxes in plain sight. Service was simply unavailable there. Take your money to better places... Owner(s): Hire more staff, or competent people.

You can eat very good at this place and also no so expensive . A very friendly personal and a very apart atmosphere . You can reach here not so easy, be careful and keep your eyes wide open. You should try it .
