Ducked in here for a lunch and avoided a rainstorm and were not disappointed. Service was delightful and very accommodating. Delicious mixed salads and huge children’s plates of wurst and chicken. Adults had delicious venison and noodles, potato pancakes topped with eggs (daily special) and goulash soup. No room for dessert but Black Forest cake looked amazing

We went to Lake Titisee to visit the lake and to shop. We like the cute little town but there are zero good restaurants there! 5 minutes away, we found Restaurant Cou Cou and what a delightful surprise! The owner/manager served us, he was so kind and welcoming. We ordered everything from pizza to spaetzle, everything was wonderful! The Spatburgunder Weissherbst Rosee Wine I ordered was amazing. Wish we lived closer as this was also an indoor soccer arena, new and beautiful! We will definitely be coming back everytime we are in Titisee!

We booked a table for Friday evening and the restaurant was already very busy, it looks like they were fully booked. Still we were served straight away and didn't have to wait long for our drinks. We chose Hirschmedallions which were outstanding with a lovely gravy. Despite being very busy we never felt rushed and enjoyed a wonderful evening

We organized a BBQ-Party here for 50 people (not German-speaking) and it was a desaster. The place itsself is nice and with beautiful landscape and lots of hiking/biking activities. Rooms and toilets were clean. BUT: The owners wouldnt let our guests check-in and wouldnt serve them drinks and food until I (as their contact person) arrived. They dont speak english and didnt even want to understand people, they behaved extremely rude and didnt want to receive help from those that could speak german. When the bill arrived they had charged us things with a wrong price that we didnt want to pay and they threatened us to denounce us as bad customers in all the hotels in the area. Please do not go, this place doesnt even deserve one star.

Schwarzwaldhof

Ah, pride goeth before - well, you know. Staying in Hinterzarten for the week, we headed here for our first night's evening meal, as the good Italian restaurant was closed. We and apparently everyone else in Hinterzarten went to the Schwarzwaldhof for dinner that night. It was slammingly busy. We were seated by a very harried waitress who breathed a sigh of relief when we spoke German to her. We ordered a bottle of wine, and then, ordered the pork medallions with frites, and I ordered just a side salad and a serving of white spargel, since it was the season. The restaurant was very loud and the waitress and we were leaning in to be heard. She left, and a bit later a different waitress came and said, in English, " We think this is too much food." Oh. OK. She said," You have ordered pork medallions and salads and 2 orders of asparagus." NO. We cancelled one salad and one order of asparagus. But, when dinner came, it was TWO pork medallion meals, with enough french fries to feed 6 people. 2 side salads. 1 LARGE dinner salad. And, of course, the side order of asparagus. We ate what we could and left the rest. What a waste and what an experience in 2 languages! Beware of ordering when you cannot hear (and speak, apparently) well. Pretty funny. But, we were entertained by one long table complete with a diner who whipped out his harmonica and entertained the entire restaurant.Visit number 2 came a number of days later, and went AS IT SHOULD. First, the restaurant was only busy, the noise level was just fine, all indoor voices, and we double checked our order with the english-speaking waitress who laughed when she saw us. (Humility is a virtue, I suppose) We ordered a lovely pinot blanc/chardonnayand the spargelmenu with poached fish and a small salad. No over ordering this time. Whew! Terrrific meal, good ambiance, though no harmonica.Very nice German restaurant, with a good kitchen, and staff that can laugh, once they are not screamingly busy!

We came here for dinner, 10 minute drive north of Hinterzarten where we were staying. Sunday evening with no booking, restaurant was busy with a good few locals.Lady running restaurant was very welcoming, seated us no problem and looked after us all night even though her English wasn't great just like my German isn't! Wiener schnitzel was lovely and tender and very fresh. Meal was excellent and good choice of drinks as well as a lovely pudding! Would definitely return on next visit to this area.

Kaiser's Tanne

This restaurant/hotel offers way more than you might expect from its location way out in the sticks, outside a tiny village in the Black Forest somewhat off the beaten track. This, of course, makes it extremely quiet and peaceful. Built like a large Black Forest home, it fits right in, as does its dark-wood interior with the many tasteful decoration pieces. The staff couldn’t possibly be any more genuinely friendly and accommodating, and the food is simply divine and will satisfy the most spoiled palates. We’ve never stayed in one of the rooms, but we’ve seen the indoor pool – you walk past the large glass pane overlooking the pool area on the way to the restrooms, and it’s very attractive, too, bright and cheerful, not like some indoor pools that look more like subterranean ponds in a cave. The place couldn’t be any cleaner either. It’s not only highly recommendable for dinner, but also for lunch or what they call ‘Vesper’, which is an afternoon snack – which means tea or coffee with pieces of cake you’d never believe you could fit inside you – but you always can because their cakes are to die for. Your taste buds will think they’ve gone to heaven.

This restaurant is off the main roads, on a green hill, which makes its surrounding area very relaxing and beautiful in spring time.Heiligenbrunnen mean "Holy fountain" and there is one in the restaurants open yard. The restaurant itself is inside what used to be a church, with some of the relics still inside. We came here especially after we've seen the reviews here - and I can say the food is good, but not great, for example, I had a Goulash soup that was very very salty, the Schnitzel was OK. The desserts were much better. If you're afraid of dogs or cats take heed because the house roam free in the restaurant, but my children liked that a lot.Good visit if you have the time, but not a culinary must.
