We walked 2 km tru the porring rain to reach Barre Rouge in Vieux Lille. But it was worth it. Very modern and contempory. Very polite servants. Small menu and not so much choise for a big kitchten brigade, 3 entrance, 3 main courses and 3 desserts. But we ordered before and they proposed a nice menu for 40 â¬. And with some extras it was really a discovery. The wines are also very good, and the price is right. Only minus is a little to less bread ... surely for such a good butter they improved. Also it would been nice that the chef would pass by the his guests... we woulded have to write this. I think the restaurant is going up the charts, keep up the good work.

C'est ce que dit mon petit fils quand il se régale. Et c'est ce qu'on a tous dit vendredi soir dernier de l'entrée au dessert.Le plus compliqué c'est d'avoir une table disponible. Mais ensuite, vous êtes au paradis culinaire. Cela commence par un accueil topissime de Marion suivi de plats extra et de desserts juste géniaux avec des vins de qualité. Soirée fiançailles dans ce restaurant de Carvin où le personnel a été mis à contribution pour réserver une surprise à la fiancée qui ne savait pas ce que la soirée lui réservait.Bague déposée avant l'ouverture du restaurant, conditions vues avec le personnel et la seconde de cuisine. A l'heure H nous arrivons, nous entrons dans un restaurant complet, et sommes installés à l'écart des autres clients, derrière un paravent pour plus d'intimité pour ce moment particulier (c'était une demande de ma part). Le personnel a pensé à nous installer un ventilateur juste à côté. Nous avons enchaîné le repas tout en appréciant le cadre et la qualité du service et de la nourriture. Assiettes très bien présentées. Explications pour les plats créoles. Arrivée du dessert accompagné de la bague de fiançailles, Madame ne s'attendait pas à cela. Gros moment d'émotion, de larmes et de bonheur pour tous les deux mais également partagé avec le personnel qui s'est vraiment mis en 4 pour nous offrir une belle soirée, pour moi prévue, pour Madame totalement imprévue.Nous recommandons vivement l'assiette découverte, très copieuse et très goûteuse.Nous avons énormément apprécié cette soirée entièrement créole dans l'assiette.Addition : 110 euros. Prix très correct. Parking. Etablissement propre et très accueillant.

Made reservations for Quai38 in advance of our stay in Lille. Did not want to miss this for a wonderful evening with my wife, who is a food snob like myself. We enjoyed the atmosphere and service. The staff makes you feel very welcome. Dishes were original and putting the quality of the food in its power. This tasted like a starry starry night! Bertrand cum suis... thanks for this experience.

Here for the Paris Roubaix Challenge and staying close by so decided to give this place a go given previous reviews and we werenât disappointed! Lovely proprietor who made us feel really welcome and the food was delicious too! I opted to try all 3 âPancooksâ which is bread filled with 3 fillings - scrumptious ( although had to leave some of the exterior). My 8 year old wants to go back tomorrow.xDear Chuddyswim, thank you so much for this nice review we read very carefully. I start my review with the positive things. The place is charming, well decorated, and the food is very good. The restaurant has potential for being another excellent restaurant in the highly competitive Lille market. On the downside, there are plenty of room for improvement. For example, we waited almost one hour to get our meal, we have to ask one of the waiters for our order. We were so hungry that we did not take our time to enjoy the main course. Furthermore, we lost our appetite for a dessert after waiting so much. No apologies for the waiting time were provided. The menu is minimal, almost no explanation. The offer is limited to three dishes and prices scale fast. The quality of the service does not match the price range and the quality of the food served. The best part of our meal was the wine, which was the only thing we could properly enjoy.

Great location, great food and wine experience, perfect service ... at a reasonable price (during the week) for 4 courses dinner, paired wines, champagne aperitif and 2 half liter bottles of sparking water 120 ⬠p.p. My 2cents : currently best foodie place around Kortrijk and Waregem. Well done !

We visited here as a group of 20. Indeed we had the whole restaurant to ourselves. Simply decorated but charming with lots of ambiance. Perfect sunny day. We had pre-ordered to make it easier. We received the most exquisite meal, my heaven as it was all sea food! The service was excellent and everything perfect. My favorite place on our trip.

I booked this restaurant after reading some reviews in French. Food was top notch and we appreciated the serene atmosphere of the dining room. The most amazing part is that the main course was 15EUR only (it costs 5EUR extra for dessert), which is a STEAL considering the quality and the taste of the dishes. It is also possible to have lunch boxes from the same place delivered directly to your conference room and I cannot wait to get back to Lille to try this option. One small - yet important - detail: cash only, no credit cards accepted...
