I didn't manage to catch his name but we had a super lovely, cheeky host at the bar area who made our night! He was so helpful with my hard dietary requirements (vegetarian, low fodmap) yet went above and beyond to help us find out information about the food while still managing the bar. I highly recommend this restaurant simply for him and his banter. I wish I had caught his name but he was Greek, had a pony tail and worked in the bar on our Thursday night with a lovely lady. I'm thankful he stopped me from eating the pasta I was given that was supposed to be gluten free but there had been a mix up in the kitchen, he fixed it and I got my food. My husband loved his steak which was cooked to perfection. The lemon lime and bitters were delicious. The food is pricy but worth it. They had whole separate vegetarian/vegan and gluten free menus.

Locally themed bar and eatery, which is guaranteed to make your day better. Great New Zealand fare, tap beer, live music and good times.
Stopped for lunch during road trip and were delighted with the atmosphere and lunch menu. Decided on the Soup which was on specials board and were very impressed with it. Cheesy Cauliflower and Bacon soup with Turkish Bread. Very impressed with the size of the servings and the attention from the staff.

We frequently have lunch here when going through Matamata and always enjoy the food. They have some great crepes - both savoury and sweet with gluten free options. Well worth a visit!

Relaxed pub atmosphere and very friendly staff. Food was quick to come out. Both the wife and I had fish 'n' chips. Was SO delicious! The fish was fresh and the batter was so light and crispy. I could've eaten the entire meal twice as it was so delicious (if I had the stomach room for it!). Their desserts also looked really good but we were too full from the meal to try any of it.The staff were super friendly and pleasant. Once you're done your meal, head to the till at the bar to pay. Affordable food. On our receipt was a coupon for free Subway if we enter a code online. All in all, lovely little pub. And they also have accommodation too.
