Its name means "city on the plain (table land)" or "city of light". The city is the administrative capital of Nuwara Eliya District, with a picturesque landscape and temperate climate. It is at an altitude of 1,868 m (6,128 ft) and is considered to be the most important location for tea production in Sri Lanka. The city is overlooked by Pidurutalagala, the tallest mountain in Sri Lanka. Nuwara Eliya is known for its temperate, cool climate – the coolest area in Sri Lanka.

This restaurant is mostly for buffet both times. The food is of different cuisine though not bad it lacks a personal touch from the chef. The staff is not so professional.

The Manager and his staff are very friendly and helpful. We had a large ensuite family room comprising of 2 x very comfortable king sized beds, comfy seating area, tea & coffee making facilities, flat screen tv, wardrobe & free standing mirror drawer system. The room could have been cleaner.... dust on the headboard thick enough to write your name in. Location is close to the town and Lake Gregory. Breakfast was okay. This hotel lacks personality.... very tired in places and needs a good lick of paint and an update. Extractor fan is a must in the ensuite, so much condensation. Plus, if a wardrobe is provided, wouldn't it be great for hangers too!

Very friendly staff with always a smile on their faces. we were treated very well with thier Hospitality. I loved having hot coffee sitting on the outside deck ovelooking the lake, that feeling cannot be explained in words. Newly opened. As such, the food choices are still bit less. But reasonable pricing. During our 3 days stay in Nuwaraeliya, we visited Lake lnn for 02 times and on the second visit, with no request from our end for a discount, the owner was kind enough to give us a considerable discount showing loyalty towards their reapeat guests.I never forget to come atleast for a coffee next time when I am in Nuwaraeliya.

Although the surrounding is somewhat shabby, the place serves great SriLankan food. Food is on buffet and the prices are very reasonable. The place is very small and only a limited number of guests can dine in at a time.

The Glendower is now the king prawn. The food is as good as I can remember from many visits years ago. The ambience is Victorian, with antique furniture and old age charm. The sweet corn chicken soup, sweet and sour pork and chicken fried rice are outstanding.

It's very headache for family travel in Sri Lanka When We facing very limited local food Selections, especially for kids. So We almost spent more time on searching a good restaurant than visiting a famous sightseeing place .Anyway We were lucky, China garden provided us the Best meal during our travel in Sri Lanka. Nothing special here. Food was just ok, chicken masala tasted like it was packaged. A bit bland. Biriyani chicken also lacked flavor and texture. General atmosphere really lacking. Empty, drab interior. Uncomfortable seats. Service was fast and attentive, though at 845 they started mopping the floors with a very pungant flowery scented wash. Cant help but think theres a better time to be doing that then when guests are eating?? No alcohol served. We wish we'd chosen somewhere else.
