San-qi has a great ambience from the moment you walk in. Classy wooden furniture and intricate lighting displays paired with warm welcoming service ups your mood almost instantly. We decided to go for the chef's vegetarian set menu, with which we were not completely happy. The starters were good - cottage cheese and potato variants, but the main course was extremely ordinary. It lacked the necessary punches and flavours. There was a pleasant climax to the rather average main course experience created by a surprise birthday cake. The chocolate cake was a very simple yet elegant dessert which elevated the overall fine-dine experience marginally.

We opted for a tasting menu which is available on Thursday.Honestly,the food is varied and brilliant.Fabulous sushi, maki and dimsum. The papaya salad also made very well.Was informed their chef is from Thailand.Presentation also very good.Same with service.The desserts in the tasting menu were only 2,and we found the hazlenut mousse cake a tad too sweet and not a great finish to an otherwise great meal.

We visited By the Mekong for my husband's birthday and it was the perfect end to our evening after our spa appointment at Iridium (quite decent!). The view is obviously amazing and the food is outstanding. We had lemon coriander soup, chicken dimsums, the Mekong special chicken and fried rice with a couple of cocktails. We ended the meal with Cocoa 54 (their signature dessert) which was sensational. They also provided us with some on-the-house birthday cake which was simply perfect. A must-visit!

Pan Asian is our favourite place for Asian food. We never really see the menu but ask the head chef Mr. Liang for suggestions. And for many years he has made the best suggestions and customised dishes for us. Needless to say they are delicious and having a very warm chef to help you canât get better. We visit The Earth Plate quite often because of the multi themed Sunday Brunches.There's loads of variety (including vegetarian) for every palate. This month we were pleasantly surprised with the addition of the Seafood Grills station which serves Pomfret, Lobsters, salmon and more.Yummy.The Lebanese chef outdid himself this time. Juicy Sheekh kebabs,melt in your mouth Djajaj(chicken) steamed rolls and succulent,perfectly seasoned shawarma...Love letter to Lebanon ! The Executive Chef makes sure to have a station dedicated to South Indian cuisine which offers up the most delicious,spicy and tangy curries served with steaming hot appams and various rice preparations. If you though Idli and Dosa represent the south (as all Mumbaikars are guilty of) you will be licking the gravy off your fingers nodding happily in agreement that the south at Sahara Star has a lot to offer the gourmand in you.A deep bow to the Asian Station represented with Dim Sum's (prawn,chicken) , Sushi, Prawn torpedoes , khow suey and the regular Rice , Noodles & Gravy.There's lots of variety in the Continental, Cold cuts , Pizza & pasta.The North Indian stations are another highlight with melt in your mouth Galouti kebabs,Tanddori meats ,Dum biryanis and meat gravies full of Spice & Zing.Simply SpicZing !The ring leader and chief facilitator is Mr.Prakash Balsara. He's the bedrock of hospitality at the Sahara's Earth Plate so reach out to him if you need something.Hand in Glove in delighting you is Chef-De-Cuisine Mr.Rupesh Khandekar. He's the one overseeing the magical culinary spread in the desert island of the Sahara Star. Quiet ,calm and ready to delight. We are thankful for both for making every visit just as unique as the last one.Hot Tip:Dont forget to take a lazy stroll around the lush curated oasis once you finish your brunch. It's truly unique as locations go.Room for improvement :The grilled seafood station is a recent addition and therefore there will need to be some improvisations to make it go from Great to Fantastic.The meats could definitely use a variety of spice rubs with options of Goan,Malwani,Bengali marinades.As of now they suffer from the same problems the grills have from Lake view Cafe at the Renaissance,salty and lightly covered in the burnt remains of the frying pan.I'd suggest the Chef takes inspiration from the grills served at the 022 Trident.They're perfect.
