Sahara star has always been one of my favourite hotels to visit and their selection of food always manages to surprise me... We visited Mabruk, the lebanese restaurant. The chef was simply amazing. Jihad El Shami came up to our table and explained what went into each part of the mezze platter. It was laden with yummy hummus, fatoush, muhmarrah and a yoghurt based serving too. Even the sides of olives and signature Lebanese garlic sauce were amazing. For mains we had the signature platter of various Lebanese delights. 3 types of kebabs and a couple of veg items too. The best part about the platter was that it was one to be eaten slowly in enjoyment and could also be eaten cold. The ambiance is unparralel, beside the indoor waterfall. So the entire evening is one heck a calming retreat. We ended the night with some classic baklava. Instead of the quintessentially used rose petals for the flavour, these used orange blossom flowers. The flavour was remarkably different served in small crisp bites. The experience was superb and will definitely come back here again. Dear Esteemed Guest ,Greetings from Hotel Sahara Star!!We thank you for choosing Mabruk – Our Mediterranean Cuisine Restaurant as your preferred meal destination in Mumbai and our endeavor is to provide all our guests a memorable experience. We are pleased to receive such inspiring words from you which have further encouraged our entire team to provide enhanced services to all our esteemed guests. We once again take this opportunity to thank you for your valuable feedback and look forward to welcome you to Sahara Star in the near future.Warm Regards & Sahara Pranam,Amit Ganpuley,Food and Beverage Manager

Bayroute

We were dining in at this beautiful place today afternoon. A special day of festival deserves special festivities and Bayroute is meal fit for royalty. The interiors were just beautiful as ever with dim lighting and tastefully placed props. The little lamps shining bright. They also had an exterior seating which was almost like a front porch of a movie. Quite nice. Having been to Bayroute a couple of times, we decided to try different things this time to do justice to the elaborate menu:Here’s what we ordered: 1. Hummus Bayroute - this one is a must order at Bayroute. Creamy, tonnes of olive oil and zaatar and the crunch of the pine nut make it just delectable. It’s worth coming back for. 2. Kebab Istanbul - The Kebab was a soft ball of lamb which had oomphs of flavour. 3. Pide kuzu - The Pide was a Boat shaped flat bread which had a Mutton ghee roast topping and some feta cheese. 4. Laham al manakeesh - this one is also a variant of flatbread. It had some minced keema on top which was delicately flavoured sweet and spicy with pomegranate molasses and spice rubs. 5. Arni arnaki - this is definitely my dish of the day. It was a large lamb shank with tender and juicy mutton served in a rich jus. This was served with ghee rice and lots of pickled veggies. The meat was just fall of the bone delicate and pink. Just loved every bite of the dish. 6. Salted caramel ice cream - though it didn’t look as creamy as the taste was, the ice cream had lots of gooey caramel and chunks of butterscotch as well. Loved the slight tinge of salt which added another dimension to the dish. For the drinks we tried our favourites - the lotus biscuit drink and the Greek goddess. We gave the lemon mint a try as well - this was extremely sweet and refreshing with a whole load of mint leaves. Was really enjoyable. Service was really quick and was friendly and helpful suggesting dishes that would suit our palate. Really enjoyed ourselves.
