It is located on the Markermeer, 35 kilometres (22 mi) north of Amsterdam, and acquired city rights in 1357. Hoorn had a population of 72,707 in 2017. The area of the municipality is 53.25 km (20.56 sq mi) of which 33.00 km (12.74 sq mi) consists of water, mainly the Markermeer. The municipality consists of the following villages and/or districts: Blokker, Hoorn, Zwaag, and parts of Bangert and De Hulk.

We went today with a group of relatives from Brazil and enjoyed the food immensely. I have been coming to this restaurant for the past many years, and the quality is quite constant. Service is pleasant, there is a variety of wines, some very expensive, but others reasonable. This is not a typical Dutch-Chinese restaurant (usually with Indonesian influences) but a real fine quality Chinese with wonderful dishes. The Peking duck preparations are excellent, but there are many other dishes as well. And all-in-all not expensive.

Don't let the outside fool you. This restaurant is a charming place on the inside, and the staff is very professional and helpful. They have menus in English and the staff also speaks English very well.The food is diverse and the portions are big enough for big eaters.Well seasoned, although the tastes.are obviously catered to the European palate.Their winelist is a bit limited, but that is to be expected in my opinion.After we had finished we were promptly served our dessert.Even though we were the last table in the restaurant, we did not feel pressured to leave,The gentleman that served us was at the perfect distance at all times. He was there when we needed him and very discrete when we didn't. Class act.All in all we enjoyed the food and the service. I would eat there again.

Tuurlijk, het is babi pangang, tjaptjoi, nasi, bami, kroepkroep. Het is net als alle andere Chinese restaurants, het lijkt wel "fast-food". Ook dit restaurant is van hetzelfde kaliber als alle andere Chinese restaurants. En dat is jammer. Ze hadden natuurlijk ''echt" Chinees kunnen gaan koken. Gemiste kans, nu is het een grijze muis.

This wonderful city of Hoorn lacks a great sushi restaurant. Shinsen is the latest but certainly not the greatest. Itâs more of the same, again. Yet another all-you-can-eat-sushi-restaurant, managed by Chinese. Itâs all about quantity, not quality.
