Cafe Nosh

Stopped off, and was wowed by the cabinet of delicious looking food. Staff took some time to take our order as they were busy chatting. When the food came it was so disappointing. We had smoked salmon bagels, for some reason they had cooked them!? So the bagel was dry and hard, the cream cheese had disappeared and the salmon was dry and very very salty. Staff were busy cleaning and we felt, unapproachable, unfriendly, and rude! So as beautiful as the cabinets may look I would not return and certainly wouldn't recommend. Very disappointing!

We were camping in the Waitaki Valley and decided to head to Waimate to do a bush walk. As our arrival was at lunchtime and not knowing where to head I always check on trip advisor. We loved our meal at the Harvest bar and kitchen. 3 of us had the fresh blue cod and hubby had the buttermilk chicken salad. The fish was indeed fresh and the chicken very moist and tasty. The girls that served us were very friendly and attentive and gave us information on the restaurant and it's beginnings 2 yrs ago. The restaurant has an inside and outside playground for children. the mains were approx $18 - $22. Art is displayed and for sale on the walls. The retaurant is a car drive of about 5 minutes from the main town up the hill and our outside seating gave us a great view over the town and valley. Highly recommend.Thank you so much for taking the time to review us! We really appreciate it.

3. Artifax Cafe

Artifax cafe offers the dinner, delicious cabinet foods as well as a all day breakfast and light lunch menu. The coffee is excellent and the decor unusual. The cafe is based on a curiosity cabinet theme and weird and wonderful items abound.

The layout of this cafe is perfect for catching up with friends. It is not noisy. This would be great even if you were on your own. The food is freshly put together and there is always something a little different in the cabinets. Coffee and tea are great. Staff are excellent.
