This restaurant is recommended by lonely planet. It's an amazing place. It looks very authentic and old fashioned. Thankfully they have an English menu and one of the servers spoke very good English. We ordered some beef skewers, chicken and trout. They also brought a delicious soup (free refill) and some appetizers. They put the meat and fish on the fire in front of you. It's like a bonfire. In the end you'll be smelly but full and happy. Everything was terrific. We paid less than $50 (cash only). I highly recommend this place.

This is a great restaurant that I had opportunity to visit. The location is great near Aso mountain. Tadayoshi, the owner of the restaurant treated us very well and made sure we are served properly. Restaurant is well maintained and has the old school touch. Inside the store there are lot of pictures of famous Japanese celebrities and other public figure which makes it look even cooler. Also historic items and old newspaper brings back memories with rich Japanese culture. When comes to eating, we had the Kumamoto famous horse meat, along with beef & chicken. We also had Yamame (a kind of river fish) which resonates the name in slightly different pronunciation "YUMMY" :) Each table has it's own grill where we barbecued A5 grade meat along with fish. All in all it was a great experience. I would highly recommend anyone to visit this place, it's a must while touring Kumamoto.

Absolutely worth every cent and it is not even expensive in the first place , US$50 for a set for two that includes 4 different cut and sides. The meat is definitely of premium grade and taste succulent after grilling (lightly). Love every bit of it and clean up the entire plate within 30 mins. The restaurant sits on a lush plain surrounded by greenery and sakura trees lining the fringe of the field. There is even a mini chip and putt golf course next to it. Don't miss out on your trip ti Minamiaso.
