Berghaus Kanisfluh

Reviewed By swisspigs

We were the first time in this 'Berghaus' which consists of a hotel and a traditional restaurant. The owners and the service were very friendly. The place was rather busy and we were the only foreigners. The two of us each enjoyed a Wienerschnitzel with French fries and a mixed salad. All good quality and honest food at a great price. The restaurant is a casual sit down service with views to the valley and the almost monumental Kanisfluh mountain on the other side. The final bit of the road which leads to the restaurant is narrow and in parts one lane only. However, it is worth the trip if you are in the area.

Restaurant Gasthof Adler

To help you better understand my reviews, my wife and I are independent travelers in our mid-60s. While we definitely like a bit of luxury and enjoy good food, we usually find five-star hotels and Michelin starred restaurants too pretentious. We have dined at the Gasthof Adler on many occasions while attending the Schubertiade in Schwarzenberg. The food is "nouvelle" with Austrian touches (particularly in their choice of ingredients). The food is consistently excellent, with many interesting choices on the menu. The specials follow what is available locally and seasonally. On our most recent visit, we took a friend out to lunch and had the most wonderfully light housemade ravioli filled with Pfifferlinge (German for chanterelles). We always look forward to dining here. In good weather, sitting out in their garden is delightful. And when it is cold and rainy, the interior is divided into a number of small rooms with only a few tables in each room, so dining is intimate.

To help you better understand my reviews, my wife and I are independent travelers in our mid-60s. While we definitely like a bit of luxury and enjoy good food, we usually find five-star hotels and Michelin starred restaurants too pretentious. We've dined at the Alte Mühle many times while attending the Schubertiade in Schwarzenberg. We always enjoyed it, but I have to admit that the last two times the service hasn't been what it was when we first ate here. The pluses: the menu has interesting dishes, all very well prepared, and the setting is as romantic as it gets. The minuses: The last two times we have eaten here the service has been very slow and the meal took too long -- the restaurant only seats about 25. This was because the kitchen was overstressed with too many diners coming at the same time. This isn't the restaurant's fault -- most of the diners are attending concerts at the Schubertiade and so come when the 4:00 concert lets out, or at 6:00, with plans to attend the 8:00 concert. Slow service certainly wouldn't be a problem if you dined here when Schubertiade is not on -- it affects all the restaurants in the entire area as the concerts attract about 700 music lovers. Some special notes: they only take cash!! Austrians like their food salty, so Americans may find some dishes a little too salty for their taste. If Zwetschgenstrudel is featured for dessert, order it!.

Quite a stunning establishment. The dining rooms are so full of charm. We were fortunate enough to arrive early and were seated directly under the traditional "Herr Gottswinkel" - Crucifix flanked by two delightful reverse glass paintings. The view out of the window onto the square and church is just wonderful. The food is not bad either. In fact the food is very good.

Nazes-Hus has been a insider tip for a long time. Sympathetically restored chalet in town center offering accommodation and open as a restaurant to the general public in the evenings. We didn't even look at the menu as we had come to savour the renowned local dish of Kaes-spaetzli. Not disappointed. The best ever served in a restaurant. Service was superb. Booking strongly advisable.

You never get a second chance to make a first impression. Front of house staff highhandedly asking: "Do you have a reservation?" when the place is 90% empty at the start of the evening does not bode well.A warm beer, which went through the hands of at least two staff who should have noticed it being warm before bringing it to the table, was replaced after a complaint. (The waitress sulked noticeably at that.)Meal: Meat dishes competently done but very salty. Vegetarian dish greasy.Atmosphere: Nothing special, made worse by the attitude of the wait staff. The first thing one sees when walking in is a sticker on the front door listing every credit card known to man as being accepted. Actually attempting to pay by credit card was met with " I'll have to go back (to fetch the terminal)".In case the owner reads this: Rest assured, we won't darken your door again.

The restaurant serves the best "Apfelstrudel mit Vanillesoße" in the Voralberg region!! This makes the place definitely a "must visit" on your shortlist while being in the Bregenzerwald! Other platters are equally fine, especially the classics like the Gnödl and of course the Schnitzels are not to be missed! Have a treat at the Bezau Panorama bahn, Enjoy Folks!
