I really love this kind of restaurant. It´s serving traditional (german) food with all the up-to-date influences of the modern kitchen. Prices are very reasonable for the quality you get. Go there!

If you stay overnight a t the hotel, this is anyhow the only place where to eat as the next town is 10 kilometers away. So no regret to do so, even if the quality is basic and I had the opportunity to eat far better Swabian cuisine....

Everyone in our party was happy with their food. Main courses mostly came with a help-yourself salad bar so starters not really needed. Excellent German cuisine, and good service. Prices we thought were reasonable for the quality of the food.

Speissecafe Schlossle

Wonderful little restaurant a few miles outside of Bad Urach. We made Reservations, but were delayed by traffic and arrived just 30 minutes before closing. There were no customers left. The whole crew, including kitchen staff and the waitress was waiting for us at the door and served us with a smile. The chef came to make sure the food was good. Most of us had the rossbraten, a local dish that is a thick steak with sauteed onions. The steak was a perfect medium/medium rare. The spaetzle and veggies were excellent. They are also well known for their cakes and pastries. We had the black forest cake (Schwarzwaelder Kirschtorte) and my wife said it was the best she had at a restaurant or Konditorei in Germany. We had a two year old with us, they brought us a high chair and we did not feel uncomfortable with the baby, as one of the previous reviewers had mentioned, though we did not have any other guests around us. The service was friendly, pleasant and efficient and not rushed despite us being there so close to closing time.
The grounds of the restaurant are beautiful, the Schloessle (little castle) is very cute and decorated with antiques and the area around the restaurant is very pretty. It is a great place for a day out followed by a meal or cake and coffee at the restaurant. There is plenty of parking. Closing time is a bit early at 8 pm.

Rostica Ristorante

First of all I must say I have enjoyed my meals at Rostica in the past. Unfortunately, since a few months, the quality in service and food has dropped tremendously.
This pizzeria, situated in an old German building with classical architecture came down with the blown up ego of the owners. I personally dislike when I almost have to apologize that I want to eat at a place, when the hosts put their ego so much into the foreground that I feel unpleasant to co-exist in the same room as a customer.
We have ordered two salads followed by two pizzas. One salad came, the other didn't. It took us ten to fifteen minutes to get the attention of the waiter, sitting next to the bar/kitchen where the waiter stayed all of the time. We eventually claimed the missing salad and a few minutes later we got the missing salad and the pizzas together. The pizza had room temperature when it arrived on the table. I would have expected them to put the pizza onto the oven and wait until the salad had been eaten.
The pizza didn't have any taste at all, the salad was an uncharitable combination of tasteless vegetables with a lifeless dressing.
I personally won't eat here anymore for a while. The owners obviously rest on their reputation from former times and don't make any effort to keep up the established standard. I hope times will have changed when I return here in some years.

bleiben.
Langfristige Terminplanung zu empfehlen. Keine a-la carte - Gastronomie.

I was on a business dinner. Good service. Good Schwabian food like "Spaetzle" (type of "gniochi"). Chicken noodles soup with pies (Maultascher Soup) was very good. Oxetail soup (though sounds scary) was even better. Schwabian Spaetzle with lentils was very good. Main dish out of Lever was just great! Lever was soft (not rubbery), noodles were good, brown sauce was just full of flavour! Well, I enjoyed. In the end home made fruit made schnaps. It was cool place. I would return.

Like the Brits have 'Fish & Chips' the Germans have Done Kebap - and this one is a good 'un. Nice friendly service, good quality (not to fatty) meat, fish bread roll and plenty of salad.
Superb and a Turkish cup of tea as a complement -
In the words of Arnie- "I'll be back"

We run our restaurant with a German Gold home-style kitchen, with a slightly raised style. We mainly use regional products. The ambience is a bit modern. The restaurant is decorated with bright and warm tones.

We had an enjoyable lunch at the Die Traube. Food was very good, especially the seasonal special - Maultaschen with chanterelles. Service was very friendly and attentive. If you're in Bad Urach, look no further, head straight to Die Traube.
