I was early for a performance at the Owl Spot Theatre and just needed a place to escape the heat and a lite snack. I think I was too early but Anna and Yuma allowed me in. I sat and had a little appetizer of the most delicious ratatouilleâit was cold with fresh tomato and a slight lemony dressing. It wasn't too salty and it wasn't with overly roasted veg that someone forgot out on the grill. The class of red wine was just the perfect balance of flavors. But, mostly, the lovely personalities of Anna and Yuma need to be commended.

We were loyal customers to Doutor Coffee chained shops during our visits to Japan. We have, no exception, have our cake and coffee in Doutor by late Oct this year and found that the coffee and cake were as good as in past years while the sitting area were clean and staff attitude pleasant. Recommended.

You must try apple pie when you go Hirosaki. Taisho Roman Tea Room (大æ£æµªæ¼«) is located nearby Hirosaki Castle. It has different types of apple pies to choose, just base on the seasons and your preference. You could order a tea set too. What so nice is it offers Aomori apple tea, which you canât really find in other cafe there. I missed the chance to try the unique Apple Curry Rice there, I would like try next time. You may also buy some souvenirs at Taisho Roman. Itâs decoration is kind of like a European style, maybe due to Meiji Restoration?! Nice tea room and apple pie in Hirosaki!!
