My wife and I stopped by here after visiting Osarizawa Mine, the local attraction. My wife was hesitant to take me here because she thought I wouldn't like the the meat as it is pig organs, such as intestines. However, we decided to try it out and am I ever glad we did. It was a delicious lunch. The cooking style is very cool, with a big curved iron grill that I have used in Sapporo to cook lamb but this was a different experience. We piled the meat on the top with cabbage on top of that and tofu along the edge at the bottom. All the juices flowed down and a soup formed and boiled the tofu into a delicious mix. Since offal can taste a bit funky at the best of times, these were marinated in garlic and chillies. It reminded me a lot of Korean food and not like anything else I've tried in Japan. Anyway, the meal was a big success and we were happy to have tried a local specialty. Unfortunately I had to drive after but they had cheap Sapporo draft beer and this would have been great beer food. To top it off the meal came in at less than 600 Yen a person. Not too many places you can eat that good for that price.
