Great service
Reviewed By dylane469I stayed here on a business trip, the hotel was very clean and well presented. The staff were friendly and very accommodating. I enjoyed my stay here and would stay again. Excellent breakfast array, with fresh bread and pastries, good choice of fresh fruit. Room was cleaned every day with fresh towels.

Lovely hotel
Reviewed By AnnKznWithin a few minutes walk to the town center where you can eat, sightseeing and shop. The room was black and white theme. We found it to be spacious. We found no plug points next to the bed and after looking we found under the desk counter. As the plugs are black as well as everything else it is quite hard to find. No kettle in the room is a bit disappointing for the early morning coffee before breakfast. Breakfasts was a small buffet selection but good. The staff that were on duty were friendly.

Guests benefit from free Wi-Fi and a spacious bathroom. This 4 Star hotel is a U-shaped building with a garden terrace in the middle. An extensive breakfast including fresh breads and fruits, scrambled eggs and cereals is served every morning.
Bad location, bad staff

We’re not hard to please but we have some serious reservations about the hotel which we would like to share: (1) Unbelievably rude receptionist We were still in bed at 10AM and the cleaner tried to open the door without knocking. We had the door locked and also had a key chain. I called out repeatedly that we were in the room and the cleaning lady kept trying to open it. She started shouting at us in French (not Dutch!) so we didn’t understand but it sounded angry. About 10 minutes later I got a call from the receptionist. “Do you want your room cleaned yes or no” “Yes but we won’t be gone for about an hour” I replied. I repeat: it was 10AM. “You won’t get your room cleaned then, the cleaner is finished. She will leave towels outside your door.” I explained what has just occurred with the cleaning lady trying to come in without knocking and shouting at us. I could not believe the response I was about to receive. “Never. I know her and she would never do that. I’m sorry. Never happened” I just said “ok” and hung up. (2) Added I wanted extras Upon arrival, the receptionist told us there would be a €30 surcharge to the room because there were two of us and not one, as was stated on our booking. She said “don’t worry you can give it to us before you leave”. I checked my booking and it said that we had booked it for two people. When I brought this to the attention of the receptionist on check out, she said that the hotel had upgraded us even though we hadn’t agreed to this and they refunded us the SIXTY euro, not thirty, that they had ALREADY taken out of my account. (3) Inconvenient location To get from this hotel to Antwerp city centre, you need to walk for 15 minutes to the train station, wait around for a 20 minute train, then walk 20 minutes to Antwerp Grote Markt. It’s just not ideal if looking for a nice place to stay in Antwerp. Save your time and money by staying in a nice hotel in Antwerp. If you would like to see Lier, take a day trip on the train.

Super verblijf
Reviewed By svt888Een nieuw hotel in de Antwerpsestraat in Lier, heel centraal gelegen tussen de het centrum en het station. Het pand is pas verbouwd dus alles is nieuw en netjes. De kamers zijn ruim en licht. Ook de badkamer was lekker groot. Er is een gezellige ontbijtzaal beneden (met tuinterras) waar we elke ochtend een ontzettend uitgebreid ontbijt kregen voorgeschoteld met brood, croissant, chocoladebroodje, ei, fruit, groenten en diverse soorten beleg. De uitbaters zijn heel vriendelijk en hulpvaardig. Guzy is absoluut een aanrader om te verblijven.

Misrepresented
Reviewed By Ezequiel GFirst of all - there's nothing inherently wrong with this place. It's clean, the beds are reasonably comfortable and the location is quiet. However, my issue is this place misrepresents itself. This is not 4 star accommodation. This is budget accommodation with levels of comfort and service levels to match. Examples: - TV wired up using extension cords all made into a nasty budle by the set top box - Toilet roll in big plastic casings similar to public toilets - Shampoo/shower gel in a squeeze type bottle fixed to the wall - Only amenity in the room is the TV - Communal facilities for tea/coffee (and a money box next to it - is there an expectation people will pay for the privilege?) - Very basic unassuming breakfast - In order to check in, you have to call a phone number (I guess the doorbell doesn't work...) At 88 euros for the night, being not even walking distance from Lier (although it's about 2km, most of that is via main roads, unlit and no pavements), it is massively overpriced. I would rate this place highly if the price was around the 50 euro mark, and it didn't call itself 4 star (2 star is closer).

Avoid room number 1
Reviewed By misslpc55The place is clean and modern. The staff is friendly. There is an easy parking. The room is cosy and there is the possibility to make a tea. The breakfast is simple but good and can start early. I was in room number 1, I would recommend another room. You can hear what's happening at the reception (music, voices…), you are next to the breakfast area and you sometimes get to smell chlorine from the pool downstair. I would have appreciated a warm temperature in the bathroom, I did not find any heating control there. I would consider staying there another time, just not in that room.
