9 Japanese Pensions in Atami: Best hotel deals for 2023

May 9, 2023 Esmeralda Fenner

A coastal resort complete with hot springs, Atami has been a favorite vacation spot for Tokyoites dating back to Tokugawa Ieyasu. Though the city's main draws are its beach boardwalk and spas, visitors can take in some history staying in early 20th-century private villas converted to inns and catching the afternoon Geisha dance performance at Geigi Kenban.

Yutorelo Atami

Very nice food. No shower facilities at our room.

Reviewed By Lunasolhk

We stayed one night at Atami before we head back to Tokyo. It’s quite an uphill drive up to hotel from Atami JR station. Free parking available and strongly recommend you have a car to reach this hotel because of the uphill winding drive. Room: Our room is on the 4/F which have quite a nice view. To our surprise, there is no shower in our room. Only a sink and a toilet. So this mean if you want to take a shower, you can only go to the hotspring. I think we overlooked it when we made our reservation as they did list it on the website, that only a limited number of room will have shower facilities. Food: Both the dinner and breakfast are super yummy. It’s Japanese style but with a twist of morden/western touch. We really like it. Food are fresh and tasty. Dinner + breakfast are served at specific time slot to make sure not everyone come at the same time. Hotspring: It’s has an outdoor and indoor hot spring, a Jacuzzi plus a sauna. Relatively small but nice. Staff: Friendly and speak okay English .They try very hard explain to us each dishes at dinner and breakfast. Others: The foot hot spring is nice and you can relax while enjoying the ocean view. You can also chose your own colour/patten of yukata plus size which is nice. There is only one elevator and you might need to wait a bit when it’s breakfast time or check out time.

Fair enough

Reviewed By KPaladin

I would say it is probably a fair hotel, with nice view, Japanese styled western food and lovely interior design. My room got a panoramic view of the sea, though its cloudy at the time so im not sure whether sunrise is possible to be seen. For the food i think its average or slightly above in Japan, though its far from good from a wetserners standard. The service is a bit disappointing, in brief, if you do not know japanese, just dont go there.

A traditional hotel with basic facilities

Reviewed By duckiesss

Location: It wasn't very close to the JR station. When we took our luggage with us on the days of arrival and departure, we had to take taxi to and from the JR station. It costed around JPY700-780, and took about 10 mins. But it was close to the central area, where there was a shopping street that led you to the beach / seaside park. We chose this because we went to the firework event Room: We stayed in a standard room for three days. It was basic, without shower facilities. We then paid an addition of JPY1,500/day for reserving a private onsen, where we could shower and enjoy onsen. The room was spacious for us, but was a bit shabby. It was clean though, and staff came for basic cleaning every day. There was no view from our room as we were surrounded by houses and buildings close-by. Breakfast: The breakfast was surprisingly good. It was traditional Japanese style and was delicious.

Reviewed By Sachisachiko

Reviewed By yamabiko_yoki
