8 Top-Rated Hotels in Le Morne

August 16, 2022 Enedina Augsburger

Kite surfers, paragliders and deep-sea fishermen flock to windswept La Morne, a small village on the southwest side of Mauritius. Le Morne Brabant Mountain, a dramatic basaltic rock peak dotted with caves that once harbored runaway slaves, presides over luxury resorts and a wide beach widely regarded as the best on the island. Throw in a shimmering turquoise lagoon and gorgeous sunsets and calling the town "paradise" doesn't seem like a cliché.

This hotel has the most amazing views and the service from the staff is amazing. In particular Roy and Balmick who have now become our family friends - both have provided us excellent service and knowledge of the island. They recommended us things to do on our iteanrry which made our holiday even more wonderful. One day we had to leave very early for a boat trip and Roy helped arrange breakfast for us extra early. Because of this service from the staff I will be coming back to Paradis Beachcomber and would recommend to anyone. If you come make sure you say hi to Roy and Balmick, the most nicest people on this island. Thank you Paradis Beachcomber!

JW Marriott Mauritius Resort

The Most Memorable Holiday At The Best Hotel In Mauritius!

Reviewed By bhavvytr

My wife-to-be and I recently stayed at this resort for an 8 night stay during May. It was my first time in Mauritius, and my wife’s second time. We are always nervous when booking hotels as I am vegetarian and she is vegan, so we have specific dietary requirements which not may hotels cater to appropriately. From the moment we booked to the moment we arrived as the staff went above to beyond to understand our requirements and ensure they were prepared before we arrived. When we arrived we were stunned by how lovely the resort was. The hotel, grounds, gardens, facilities, and the beautifully pristine private beach took our breath away. We booked a Junior Suite with a Garden View, however we were still able to see the beach and ocean from our room. The rooms are situation in lovely French-colonial style villas spanning the stretch of the beach. The room was amazing, it was spacious, tastefully designed, and with a very generously sized bathroom. Room service was excellent, our room was thoroughly cleaned at least twice a day and they always made our room smell lovely. The butler service to the room was a lovely touch, and is complimentary too. Our butler Ravi was very attentive. He made the effort to spoke to us everyday and made sure we had everything we needed no matter what the request. Moving on to the restaurants, they were all fantastic. We tried each one at least once. Our favourites were Simply India and Floating Market. Each night, the chefs would greet us and frequently make us any dish we wanted whether it was on the menu or not. The chefs here are seriously talented, so if you are worried about food and what to eat, you will have no problem here no matter how fussy you are. The beach was one of the best parts of this hotel. It is as picturesque as you can imagine with perfect white sand and clear blue water. The hotel provided complimentary water sports which was a nice touch and one we made full use of. Although this hotel was aesthetically beautiful and had ample amenities and nice touches to everything, what really made our stay as memorable as it was, was the staff. Every member of staff you encounter here is friendly, well mannered, courteous, and extremely hard-working. You can see they take pride in what they do and this show in their execution of their duties. Whether this was the gardeners, the room cleaners, restaurant staff, or even the general manager. They do everything they can to make your stay as perfect as possible and persevere to ensure you are having the best day possible. Once some members of staff got to know us, they even took the time out of their day to come and see us during the day to ensure we were having a good day. My partner and I were celebrating a birthday and our engagement here, so this was a special trip for us, and the staff did everything possible to make this the most memorable trip we have had. Although every member of staff was fantastic, I would like to give a special mention to the following people: Juliana (Event Manager), Smitesh (F & B Manager), Ravi & Fabien (Our Butlers), Vimal & Akshay & Raj (Beach Staff), Sehzad (Restaurant Manager), Alvin (Restaurant Manager), and Leena (Guest Relations). Last but not least, I would also like to extend a sincere thank you to the very polite General Manager, Dimitrios. Although staying at this resort is slightly expensive (it is above average for what you would pay in Mauritius), it was worth every penny. Although Mauritius is a lovely place to be anyway, if we had not stayed here, our experience would not have been the same. A heartfelt thank you to all the staff there, when we next visit Mauritius, we would not even consider staying anywhere else as it would not live up to the expectations we now have.

Great service, wonderful location, excellent food. Quiet, nicely heated pools (plural). At this place, the staff really wants you to leave as a happy, satisfied customer. We had a small problem with our room. But Bruno and the ladies from the reception went the extra mile to solve it and make us feel at home. We could not have been happier with the service provided. Cannot recommend this place enough.

Bad service at riu hotel

For the price we have been charged, we have been given a bad service so far.we received our luggage in room nearly 1 hour after check in and that also after complaining at the reception where we learnt nobody had approached us to identify our luggage. when we got in the room.it had only one power outlet to charge or put on the kettle.that power outlet was also broken and my son nearly electrocuted himself anyone planning to come here please know that there is no tea time around 4 or 5 pm and even if you are ready to pay and order snacks, there are no snacks. So if you reach hotel at 3 pm and are hungry, stay hungry till dinner. At 2022 when so many local hotels are providing such an excellent service, where is value for money at Riu? Where is safety of customers being considered. At the time i am writing this review i am still in this hotel feeing so bad for this choice

Beautiful location and great staff

Reviewed By D4553GTclaudian

An amazing hotel with great staff - we would love to visit again! We actually booked Hotel Riu Creole but got upgraded to Le Morne which was great as we were in the adults only hotel but had access to all facilities across both hotels. The hotels seem busy at weekends but were a lot quieter during the week. Mauritius still has covid restrictions in place (mask-wearing everywhere is mandatory), however this is more relaxed in the hotel and you are only asked to wear a mask in the restaurants. The Sega bar and Jacuzzi in the spa were closed due to covid. The location is beautiful. The beach can get windy which is great for watching the kite surfers but just around the corner is a much calmer beach where you can also see beautiful sunsets. We went for a walk up Le Morne Brabant which had incredible views of the lagoon! We would recommend making the most of the free kayaking/paddleboarding/snorkelling that is included with your holiday and definitely try the free scuba diving session in the pool (with ScubaCaribe). We ended up booking the 'Discover Scuba Diving' course and had an amazing dive - we saw some gorgeous fish and even a sea turtle! Ben and Anne were such great instructors! The weather got windier towards the end of our holiday so we weren't able to do some things we had planned (we'd booked a Seaplane trip with LagoonFlight and looked into swimming with dolphins). If the weather is good at the beginning of your holiday we would recommend getting things booked sooner so you don't miss out and check the forecast with ScubaCaribe. Most activities that are at an extra cost in and around the hotel are priced in euros. Our room was cleaned beautifully every day. We especially liked the flower petal arrangements that were left on our bed a couple of times! The room wasn't super modern but was very spacious and had good air conditioning. The bathroom had two sinks and a huge shower! We would also like to say a big thank you to Chef Ganga, Arnaud, and Vickram along with all of the other kitchen staff, especially those working in the buffet restaurant at Riu Le Morne. My partner has a severe Peanut allergy and was shown around the buffet options every meal time by staff members to inform him of any options that he should avoid. Unfortunately, on our final night he had a reaction which must have been caused by cross-contamination from other guests using the same spoon. Eating something containing peanuts can cause life-threatening anaphylaxis for my partner so we immediately asked reception to call an ambulance as we didn't know how bad the reaction was going to become. We panicked when we were told the ambulance was 45 minutes away as anaphylaxis can happen in a matter of minutes! Chef Ganga really helped us out and thankfully the reaction was only mild. Cross contamination can be difficult to avoid in a buffet restaurant, but the kitchen staff couldn't have been more helpful with informing us about peanuts each day - Arnaud even kept some desserts in the kitchen for us when he was working so we could be confident there would be no cross contamination! We appreciated the late check-out from Olivier on our last day so we could relax for longer. There were plenty of options in the restaurants and we loved Bangalore, and also had some great food at Kulinarium. I am vegetarian and didn't realise that Kulinarium just had a set menu which was mainly meat, however the chef kindly gave me some vegetarian options instead. Overall, we would recommend this hotel if you have any special dietary requirements - just discuss with the kitchen staff and they will be more than happy to help you out. However, be aware that if you do have a potentially life-threatening allergy, you are not very close to the nearest hospital! Thank you all for a fantastic stay. Despite the stress of our last evening we had an amazing time (and enjoyed lots of mojitos and sparkling wine)!
