Going the extra mile!

I visited this hotel with a group of Dutch people. The owner of the hotel was always available behind the desk and extremely helpful (getting taxi, booking restaurants, calling to musea etc.). The ladies who took care of our breakfast and diner were also very friendly and easy to go. The hotel has a great roof terras where we could stay and rest. The rooms were large and have all the necessary things you need in a hotel.

No drinking water

This must be one of the few hotels in the world which do not provide free drinkable water. There is no water provided and when I asked for some I was told there is a charge - unbelievable. There is an upstairs gym which is very noisy during opening hours. On the plus side the hotel is clean and staff friendly. Food in the adjacent restaurant is reasonably good.

Keep Expectations in Check....Really Very Average...and Beware the Noise!

Reviewed By 499MichaelA499

Stayed there recently for two weeks. We had a room with a "kitchenette"....stove top, fridge and toaster. It was a tired room, with a table, 2 chairs and a dresser. None of the drawers in the dresser worked. It was cleaned daily, and the staff was friendly and helpful, but the description of the property here is just wrong. It's not in a great location, and there is nothing about it that a "discerning traveler" would look for. A taxi ride is required to get into Georgetown. Sheriff Street is very busy, and other than a couple restaurants and a grocery store, there is nothing else in the area. There is no shopping within walking distance. The biggest issue is the noise. We actually left and checked into another hotel on both weekends we were there. There is a "club" across the street that has music going every night. And one weekend, the house next door had a party that (no exagerration here), literally caused our walls to vibrate and we couldn't hear each other talk. It was just ridiculous, and based on other reviews here, it wasn't a one-time event. For the price, the place is OK during the week, but be prepared if you plan on staying over a weekend....

Utter Disgrace. Avoid at All Costs.

Reviewed By keith h

I booked a 2 night stay for 25th & 26th. November 2019. This I did via an extremely well known on line travel company in June of 2019. Cost : £150 : 00 paid in advance. Several days prior to my arrival at Georgetown International Airport ( Cheddi Jagan ) I e mailed Kanuku Suites via their own site requesting an airport pick up, stating my flight number & arrival time. Receiving no response, I then e mailed Kanuku Suites two more times via the travel company. Once again, I received no response. I arrived on time at Georgetown & took a taxi to Kanuku Suites, arriving just before midnight. The only person available was a gateman/ watchman who professed to know nothing about my booking. He had no access to any room keys & was unable to ' phone anyone in authority. This, in spite of my having a booked, paid & confirmed reservation in writing. My helpful taxi driver took me to another hotel that he thought would be suitable & indeed it was fine & also open for business, fortunately for me so I booked in at what was now ten past midnight. Not the kind of hassle one wants after a journey of over 24hrs from my home in the U. K. As soon as I was settled in my room I e mailed the travel company with my complaint. Despite at first engaging with my complaint & receiving proof of my alternative accommodation costs they have now ignored me for the past week & I am having to resort to legal action to reclaim my £150 : 00. As for Kanuku Suites, I have never received any contact/ apology at all. My advice : avoid this hotel at all costs.
