Grenaa (or Grenå) is a Danish town and seaport on the east coast of the Jutlandic peninsula. Tourism, education and commerce are important sectors in the economy of Grenaa. It is the only larger town on Djursland. Grenaa is the municipal seat, and the largest town, in Norddjurs Municipality, which covers the northern half of Djursland.

The mill is big and nicely renovated after a fire that destroyed everything. None of the original interiour is left. Go there for the view. Sometimes you can be lucky and look at art and other displays inside. I guess you must contact the local tourist agency to find out whats going on there.

Looking from the outside the museum doesn't look very big and you'd expect yet another one of those small local museums with not much to tell. But you will be surprised ! Grenaa museum has an excellent collection of archaeologic finds from the area. Lots of viking stuff and pre christian coins. Enough to make any detectorist droole. There are a huge selection of pottery and tools (axes, scrabers etc) from stone age and up which often is shown together with an explanation board showing location of finds. http://museumoj.randers.dk

We had lunch and dinner here. Good, affordable food, friendly service and a spectacular setting -- quite unusual in Denmark. Authentic renaissance castle (built in 1606) surrounded by woodlands. The restaurant is in the main building, with beautiful rooms and historical wooden ceilings. It is possible to stay the night in one of the adjacent buildings -- bathrooms are shared with one other room, but even so, it's a real bargain (400 DKK for a double room without breakfast).

Prachtige middeleeuwse kerk. Daterend uit de dertiende eeuw, gerenoveerd rond 1700 is dit een perfect geconserveerd, oud monument. Rode baksteen aan de buitenzijde. Een beroemd orgel in het interieur. Dit instrument wordt regelmatig gebruikt bij vele concerten.

In Aalso zien wij het derde witte kerkje op weg naar Grenaa. Het blijft fascinerend om te begrijpen waarom, op zo'n korte afstand, elke gemeenschap zijn eigen Godshuis heeft opgericht. De uiterlijke kenmerken zijn vrijwel identiek. Wellicht dat de landschappelijke omgeving is veranderd. Maar wat bleef zijn de fraaie afwerking van de torenspits met trapgevel, de drie 'etages' en de wuivende korenvelden erom heen. Ook de interieurs zijn stuk voor stuk: Prachtig!

Vejlby Kirke er - uden for Vejlby Sogn - nok kun kendt for den dramatiske beskrivelse af præsten, der blev dømt for mord og henrettet.
Men Vejlby Kirke fortjener også at være kendt som en flot kirke.
Kirken ligger på en skråning på Søren Quists Vej i udkanten af landsbyen Vejlby 4 kilometer vest for Grenå.
Der er et smukt og velholdt kampestensdige hele vejen rundt om kirken og den lille kirkegård.
Søren Quist var præsten, der blev henrettet. Den dramatiske hændelse fandt sted i 1600-tallet. Det blev aldrig afklaret, om han var skyldig, eller om han var offer for justitsmord. Men det blev i hvert fald afklaret, at to hovedvidner havde vidnet falsk, og de blev senere henrettet for mened.
Søren Quist har ikke kun givet navn til vejen gennem Vejlby. Det flotte stråtækte menighedshus overfor kirken hedder: Hr. Sørens Hus.

The monument was easily found. The description on the monument did not have an English translation so be prepared to take a photo and translate it when you get home.
