Fort Saskatchewan is a city in Alberta, Canada, located 25 kilometres (16 mi) northeast of Edmonton, Alberta's capital city, along the North Saskatchewan River. Fort Saskatchewan is part of the Edmonton census metropolitan area and is one of 24 municipalities that comprise the Capital Region Board (CRB). Fort Saskatchewan's population in the 2016 federal census was 24,149 while it was 24,569 in the city's 2016 municipal census.

It started out as turf control, but ended up as a major tourism attraction. If ewe haven't already heard, the City of Fort Saskatchewan uses a flock of sheep (Finnsheep to be exact) to keep the grass trim in City parks. This eco-friendly way of looking after parkland has garnered regional, national, and international acclaim since its inception in 1992. The sheep are an irresistible delight to Fort Saskatchewan residents and visitors alike. It's quite the sight to see a shepherd or shepherdess in the city, herding the flock of about 50 warm, friendly, and fuzzy sheep between Fort Saskatchewan's parks. Border collies work to help keep the flock together. You're welcome to come up close and meet the living lawnmowers. The quiet sheep love attention and you can expect the whole flock to surround you! The friendly sheep symbolize the perfect mascot for Fort Saskatchewan - a community known for its friendliness, warmth and hospitality. Open from First Saturday in June to the holiday Monday in September.

The sheep have been coming to Fort Saskatchewan for a number of years. They started out as a money-saving way of cutting grass and have evolved into a tourist attraction. The flock are very tame and eager to have you feed them. They will eat branches of the trees but love apples and carrots. Just make sure you wear running shoes not flip flops because they do not watch where they are stepping. The Shepherd or Shepherdess will answer any questions and you can pet the sheep herding dog who is not "on duty",

Many years ago I bowled it a league and finally got the chance to try out our new Fort Lanes. They are great. Everything (except rolling the ball) is automated. No need for someone to sit and keep score. It's done for you. They have a small menu and offer some snack food. Drinks are also available and at a reasonable price. Prices are reasonable. Another neat thing is that you can choose to bowl 5 or 10 pin. The lanes can be set up to do either one. But call ahead for 10 pin as I think they are usually set up for 5 pin and they need time to switch them over.
The location is great. Lots of restaurants within walking distance so go bowling and then for lunch or dinner or bowl after you eat. Or just have some food at the alley!

This market is every Thurs. from 4:30-7:30PM. Lots of things are available. From cupcakes to produce. Lots of arts and crafts as well as food to nibble on while walking around. Sometimes there is some entertainment from local musicians. The last couple of seasons the Rotary Club has sponsored Concerts on the bandshell from 5-7PM. There is something for everyone. Pop in after work or make a trip.

My wife and I like to stop at historic attractions along our traveling route. This museum is a must stop for the historic buildings and local history. What was really great was the enthusiasm of the interns working here! Give these young folks lots of credit for how they made our visit great.

38 acres of fun for our pups. Will get better as the park matures, the city listens when suggestions for improvement are made and reacts. Park is safe for all.
Lots of poop bags available with garbage receptacles well placed.
All that is needed is more people to clean up up after their dogs. Have yet to see any poop fairies in the park.

Recently visited the Shell Theatre, located within the Dow Centennial Centre, in Fort Saskatchewan. Tickets for the Family Day show were extremely well priced thanks to local sponsors. Although the lines were long to get into the theatre, they moved extremely fast as the staff were very efficient. The staff were very knowledgeable (helped us get to our seats) and the staff member introducing the show was extremely enthusiastic, getting everyone pumped for the show. The sound and house lights were fantastic. A fabulous facility to have within the community!

We took our 9 year old grandson here for a couple of hours of entertainment. He had been before to a friend's birthday party so knew he would enjoy it. We had the place to ourselves as kids were still finishing school, but the owners who were lovely people switched everything on for us to enjoy.
There are 3 trampoline areas including one with a basketball net and one with a pit of foam cubes which I enjoyed trying to bury him in. We also spent time in the soft play throwing foam balls at each other. The only downside was that the ball shooters were not working.
We bought some tokens for the arcade machines and had a great time on motorcycle TT and road racing.
A fun couple of hours from which I left exhausted but my grandson still had loads of energy. Perhaps not recommended for the 60+!!
