The Stonehenge of Thailand accepted but it is not and nothing remotely similar. The myth about the stones looking like a (Mushroom, boat, elephant, turtle and chedi) well I spent 2 hours looking at them from every conceivable angle and I defy anyone to tell me how they see those shapes! I thought it was an interesting place to visit and worth a look but not as what it has been hyped up to be. Adding to the hype there are signs which say if you prostrate yourself to the stones you will have good health, good luck in battle etc!!! It is obvious there has been money invested in the facilities further up the road from the stones but they were not open when I visited midweek and the camping area looks very inviting. The “attraction” had no fee unlike the view point which is approximately 3 kilometers further on and I declined paying the fee of 5 times the rate of Thai people to have a look at the surrounding countryside. The main problem I found with this venue is there are no other attractions or sights to be seen within a reasonable distance so it must stand out alone, however it does not. If there was an entrance fee I would suggest a pass on this place but if not I do suggest an internet search and find out the true nature of this phenomena which is a story on its own.

This is a forest park with good scenic hills (I would not call them Mountains in the sense of the Rocky Mountains) to hike and great views. However, the main attraction is the waterfall which has several branches but is almost nothing in the months of January to May which is the dry season. Without the rainfall there is no waterfall, so the best time to visit is during August and September. Not too far from the Waterfalls is the Stonehenge of Thailand which is a collection of natural outcrops of rock exposed when the surrounding soil was eroded away.

We enjoyed our visit to this small but wonderful zoo. Great intimate atmosphere, friendly staff. Many animals, tigers, lions, monkeys among others. No snakes or crocodiles however. Especially many beautiful birds (different pheasants, a cassowary etc..). We paid 40 tb for carrots so we could feed the lama. There's a lake with black and white swans, quite romantic.

The small temple is on a traffic island in a quiet part of town. Founded in the 8th or 9th century Chaiyaphum was originally a Mon settlement. When the Khmers conquered the Mon, they built this temple here in the 12th century.
Inside you'll find a Mon Budha which is the only reminder of the Mon in town. There is also a small barai, or man-made lake adjacent to the temple, which adds to the tranquility. There is a small spirit house under a tamarind tree alongside.

Chaiyaphum Night Bazaar

Reviewed By Raymond W - Chengdu, China

We went for a walk here, and it was really just the typical night market which you can find in hundreds of small towns all over South-East Asia. There are food stalls where the usual Isaan favourites are on offer T affordable prices. There are also lots of stalls where you can by clothes, accessories, gifts and handicrafts. It is popular with young people and courting couples. By nine o'clock you will already find most stalls are closing up for the night. The tuk-tuks had all gone home well before the stalls starting shutting up when we went, so we had a 2 kilometre walk back to our hotel.
