Chen Mapo tofu (Luomashi)

Reviewed By SuzieLee71 - Brisbane, Australia

We stopped here for a quick, no fuss lunch and amongst other dishes we ordered the classic mapo tofu. This was delicious - much richer and spicier than the Southern Chinese versions of this dish. Give the dan dan mian a miss though - it was a little dry.

Zaozishu Vegetarian Restaurant

Part of a chain, with other veggiebranches in Shanghai.

I decided to go out for support tonite after partaking in another 45 RMB massage and took a long (for me) walk to this highly recommended vegetarian restaurant (my daughter is vegan).
Thankfully they have an English menu and a waiter that is fluently bilingual - I asked his advice and when I told me that I don't really enjoy spicy food he steered me over to a chicken (faux) dish that I still think had meat in it (made of mushrooms and soy). Even the mild dish was at my limits of spiciness.
The restaurant is modern and a bit of an oasis away from the small noisy places that I walked by on the way here. As others have mentioned the entrance looks a bit off putting but take he elevator over to the fourth floor and enjoy.

As an expat living in Chengdu, sometimes you just have a craving for something familiar. Thankfully we found Mike's Pizza Kitchen. A friend introduced us to the restaurant and we haven't looked back since. The pizzas are all made fresh and there are some really creative ingredients to choose from (who knew Irish Cheddar was so good on pizza?). The wings and salads also hit the spot. We've eaten both in the restaurant and ordered Delivery. Just a tip: be sure to make a reservation if you are eating there on a busy night and plan your Delivery order accordingly. They are understandably popular, so make sure you get your spot in line!

The room is wide open with very high ceiling (probably over 2-story high). The decor is that faux French and overall feels very cold and officious.
The staff (as with all the restaurants in the hotel) are friendly, helpful, and attentive. The food is good and fairly authentic. The filet could use a bit more sauce. So, be sure to ask them. For the lamb chop, ask for medium if you normally prefer medium rare.

Ponti's Ristorante

Reviewed By Chris-sofia - Sofia

This is a relatively new restaurant in town so me and my friends really wanted to check it out. Part of the Intercontinental hotel group, the atmosphere there is quite relaxed and in case you need a break from the city's busyness, I'd strongly recommend a visit to Ponti's . They have a lot of finger licking entries, I'd recommend the prosciutto pizza, Australian Sirloin steak, good wine (we opted for the Ruffino Reserva red wine) and of course the tiramisu, which was truly good! Will definitely visit again. Special thanks to Margarita for making us feel so welcome.

Lixuan Chinese Restaurant (The Ritz-Carlton, Chengdu)

A SOPHISTICATED Sichuan RESTAURANT IN Chengdu Discover innovative interpretations of classic Cantonese and Sichuan fare at Li Xuan, the signature Chinese restaurant at The Ritz-Carlton, Chengdu. Colorful decor features vibrant flowers and brocade, inspired by the ancient Shu civilization. Here, contemporary sensibilities blend seamlessly with a deep appreciation for China’s millennia-old culinary culture; flavorful dishes include double-boiled sea conch and Dan Dan noodles with pork.

We were fortunate to get a private tour through the Lixuan kitchen, where Chef Steffen and his staff of sous chefs and assistants had arranged a demonstration regarding Sichuan seasonings. Their kitchen was spotless and very well organized, just as you would see on the Food Network from kitchens of top restaurants. They prepared a signature dish for us - Kung Pao chicken, which is one of our favorite Asian entrees back in the U.S. The taste combination and flavors were at an entirely different level than we have experienced anywhere else. It was evident that the ingredients were freshly prepared and combined with care and experience. Although we didn't have time to visit for regular dinner service during our visit, we look forward to returning to sit at "The Chef's Table", where he prepares a special dinner based on your specific preferences. This is definitely a must-stop restaurant experience in Chengdu.

Indulge in hand-made sushi, Asian-themed tapas and innovative cocktails in this cutting-edge lounge built around a spacious outdoor patio.

Reviewed By Mayank A - Tinsukia, India

We went here to bring in my sisters birthday, the view from the 27th floor was great and the decor classy, the ambiance gives it a posh look. We wanted to order off menu as being vegetarians we had limited choices and they tried their best to accommodate us, while the free nuts, chilies etc were of real good quality, the snacks we ordered were mediocre at best. The drinks menu is extensive and expensive. The cheapest bottle of wine was over 100 USD, well at lest it tasted good. The staff were gems specially a girl called Stephanie, from bringing the birthday cake at 12 to letting us know about other spots in town, to making small talks, to clicking pictures of my sister in her whirlwind tour of the lounge, she was great.
